Songdo sushi right after break time: salmon aburi add-on, Sushi Doku
In short
Sushi Doku The Songdo is a sushi restaurant on the 2nd floor of Onesta Mall in Songdo, Yeonsu, Incheon. The writer walked in at 5pm on a Friday evening, right as break time ended, ordered the ₩25,900-per-person premium sushi set and added 2 pieces of salmon aburi (lightly seared salmon sushi); the large sushi, tempura, udon and steamed egg custard were all consistently good. Verdict: the writer's partner liked Sushi Doku The Songdo so much they said they couldn't eat sushi anywhere else, and the writer would 100% go back.

Sushi Doku The Songdo: how long is the wait when break time ends at 5pm?
Break time at Sushi Doku The Songdo ends at 17:00, and even though we got there around 4:45 on a Friday, three groups, including us, were already waiting. It's clearly a well-known sushi spot in Songdo New City! We visited around 5pm on a Friday and arrived a little early so we could go in as soon as break time ended.
Strollers and carriers can't be brought into the restaurant! But there are plenty of baby chairs, so you don't need to worry about visiting with a child :-)

You can join the waitlist at the Catchtable machine in front of the restaurant, or through the Catchtable app.

Inside Sushi Doku The Songdo and the plum tea
We went in right at 5 o'clock sharp! The inside of Sushi Doku The Songdo is very pleasant and comfortable :-)
Warm plum tea (maesil-cha) is also set out, and it settles your stomach nicely before or after the meal :-)

The warm plum tea wasn't too sweet, either, and tasted good :-)

The ₩25,900 premium sushi set: is it good value?
At Sushi Doku The Songdo we ordered the premium sushi set (myeongpum sushi jeongsik) at ₩25,900 per person :-) The moment it arrived, I was surprised at how classy and generous it looked!

The lineup is really generous. At first I thought the price was just average, okay?! But the moment the dishes were set in front of me, I couldn't help saying, wow, this place is the best value too! The sushi looks fresh at a glance, and it comes thick and really appetizing.

You can tell at a glance that the sushi is seriously big! Doesn't it look appetizing?!

Udon, egg custard and tempura in the premium set
The premium set also comes with springy, tasty udon (thick wheat noodles).

Ta-da! Delicious egg custard (gyeran-jjim, steamed egg) with a pudding-like texture!

Sushi Doku The Songdo isn't only good at sushi. The moment I bit into the tempura, I thought, this place is the real deal. Nothing in the set falls short; everything is tasty overall.

From the salad dressing to the udon broth, nothing is too sweet or too salty. The seasoning is just right!
The huge salmon hiding under the other sushi
Please look at this close-up of the sushi 😋 And look at the size of the salmon that was hidden under the other pieces...! It was buried beneath the other sushi so I didn't notice at first, but it's enormous. And the moment it goes in your mouth, it melts~~~~~

How was the extra 2pc salmon aburi?
The premium set at Sushi Doku The Songdo was so good that I got curious about the other sushi too, so I ordered 2 extra pieces of salmon aburi.

Salmon aburi is salmon sushi that comes lightly cooked (seared), and it's really clean-tasting and tender!!

100% I'll come back! My partner, who came along, praised Sushi Doku The Songdo to the skies, saying they can't eat sushi anywhere else now!!
