Violin profile photos at Areye Studio, a Hongdae self photo studio

Today I stopped by Areye Studio (스튜디오어라이), a self photo studio in Hongdae, to take some violin profile photos 🙂 There are so many self photo studios these days, but compared with the others, Areye Studio wins by a mile on space and shoot time!

Areye Studio location, hours, parking and reservations

Areye Studio is at B1, 188-1 Donggyo-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul, right near Exit 1 of Hongik Univ. Station, so it's easy to get to. The horizon room is open 0:00–24:00 and the self studio runs daily 11:00–20:00. I'd recommend checking the booking page before you go.

Outside and inside Areye Studio

Areye Studio is seriously easy to reach. It's right by Exit 1 of Hongik Univ. Station!

Areye Studio also runs a rental studio, so it's easy to drop in for photos or any kind of shoot!! Honestly great value for Hongdae!! It felt much roomier than a typical self photo studio!

Self studios are often on the small side, but Areye Studio is big enough that even a group shooting together doesn't feel cramped!

Makeup room and free outfits and props

The makeup room is really big too, and you can use the jackets and shirts for free!!!><

There are lots of kinds of light-up flowers too,

and you can pick props and headbands to suit your taste!

There are all kinds of balloons, and a tripod is ready for you too, so you can even film yourself shooting! Haha

How much does Areye Studio cost?

Room A, the horizon studio, is ₩16,500 per hour for 3 people, plus ₩5,500 per extra person. Room B, the self photo studio, is ₩40,000 per hour for 2 people, plus ₩10,000 per extra person.

Is a 30-minute shoot really relaxed?

The part I liked most at Areye Studio was 🤍the whopping 30 minutes of shoot time🤍. Self photo studios usually give about 15 minutes of shooting and 15 minutes of picking photos, so 30 minutes is nearly double, and there was much less time pressure!!!

At first my poses and smiles felt awkward, but with enough time I loosened up naturally and ended up with a nice variety of shots!>< I didn't have to rush, and I could try the shots I wanted again and again 🤍

The owner even shot with a camera as a free service

And the part I'm really grateful for! The owner of Areye Studio also helped by shooting with a camera, as a free service 📷 I thought it would be self-shooting only, but they took photos with their own camera now and then, so I got a much bigger variety of results! They guided my poses naturally and kept the mood relaxed, so I had fun the whole time 🙂

Photo selection and retouched results

Okay, selection time!! With 30 minutes there are lots of shots, haha. Areye Studio normally includes retouching (Bojeong) for 2 photos, but the owner did 4 as a service!! Is it really okay to give this much extra..?

These are the B-cuts I liked!>< For self-shot photos, this is seriously a steal! Haha

And this one is the owner's service shot! The light is blown out, but I actually like this kind of mood even more!
