Here's my pick for a Kkachisan Station restaurant: Hekbap Kkachisan Branch (핵밥 까치산점). On days when I want a hearty lunch, choosing the menu is oddly stressful, haha.

I wanted a place that's good on both flavor and portion size, and Hekbap Kkachisan Branch was exactly that. You get a range of rice bowls (donburi), ramen and tonkatsu (pork cutlet) all in one place, so you can pick what suits you, and the vibe works for eating solo, with friends or for a family meal.

This time I ordered the cube steak bowl, the pork rib marinade bowl and a side of tonkatsu. The portions were generous and the taste was satisfying, so I'd recommend it as a Kkachisan lunch spot.
Where is Hekbap Kkachisan Branch and what's the atmosphere like?
Hekbap Kkachisan Branch is about a 2-minute walk from Exit 3 of Kkachisan Station, so it's easy to find. Being so close to the station makes it good for office workers at lunchtime, and an easy place to meet up too.

The restaurant is on the 2nd floor, and the inside was spacious and kept clean. The tables are spaced generously, so I could eat in comfort, and with plenty of solo diners it felt like a good place to eat alone.

Tablet ordering and how fast the food comes
You order easily on a tablet, so I could take my time looking over the menu before choosing, and the food came out fast, which I liked.

What do the cube steak bowl, pork rib marinade bowl and tonkatsu look like?

The first dish to arrive was the cube steak bowl. Bite-sized cubes of steak were piled on generously, and because they're grilled to order, they had an appetizing smoky, grilled aroma. With meat, rice and vegetables together, one bowl makes a filling meal.

The pork rib marinade bowl I ordered with it was impressively hearty-looking too. The special rib marinade had soaked evenly into the meat, and just seeing how glossy it was got my appetite going.

It's the kind of dish anyone, young or old, would like, so it's an easy choice.

The tonkatsu I ordered as a side came out freshly fried, with a standout crunchy coating. It went well alongside the mains, and the generous portion made it even better.

How did the rice bowls taste at Hekbap Kkachisan Branch?
Cube steak bowl: tender meat with a subtle smoky aroma
The tender steak was the most impressive part of the cube steak bowl. It was juicy but not tough, with a nice chew, and the subtle smoky aroma brought out the flavor of the meat even more.

Eaten with the plain rice it went together really well, and the seasoning wasn't heavy-handed, so I enjoyed it all the way to the end.
Pork rib marinade bowl: sweet and salty special sauce
The sweet-and-salty special sauce on the pork rib marinade bowl was really appealing. The marinade had soaked into the meat, giving it rich savory depth, and the tender, chewy texture made every bite satisfying. Mixing it into the rice made it even better, and I kept going back for more.

Side tonkatsu: crispy outside, juicy inside, thick-cut meat
The tonkatsu was crispy outside and juicy inside. The thick-cut meat had a good bite, and with the sauce that came alongside, the flavor came through even more. Eating it with the rice bowls let me enjoy several flavors at once, which made the meal even more satisfying.
