Yongsan tteokbokki restaurant packed on a weekday night: Hyeonseonine

Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch is a tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) restaurant near Sinyongsan Station on Yongridan-gil in Seoul that started as a street cart in 2004 and has grown to eight branches. Even at 8:30pm on a weekday, the place was nearly full, so this visit meant a mild-spice jeukseok-tteokbokki (instant tteokbokki) set for two with jjolmyeon noodles, yakki-mandu dumplings, two eggs included, and a self-cooked fried rice finish. Both the pan-fried tteokbokki and the instant version live up to the hype — this old favorite earns its reputation.
