What is Hey Joji in Yeonnam-dong like?

Hey Joji is one of my absolute favorite pasta and Western restaurants in Yeonnam-dong. Honestly, I've lost count of how many times I've been (this is visit number N!), and every time the atmosphere is so nice that it just puts me at ease.

Even the exterior is full of cute, charming touches.

Seating and atmosphere inside Hey Joji

Step inside and the interior is cozy and warm, nicely decorated in an American style. There's no break time, so even though I came at an awkward hour, guests kept coming in. There are roomy sofa tables and several tables for two.

On your way out, you can grab a little snack too. It's secretly so good, though...

What should you order at Hey Joji?

The Hey Joji menu is easy to check, since Naver has it with photos. Every dish looks gorgeous, and the food really does come out looking just like the pictures. I know everything here is delicious every time, so choosing only gets harder haha.

I've tried a good variety so far, and the Cajun shrimp rosé pasta is delicious! The waffle chicken is great too, with that sweet-salty charm. Honestly, whatever you order seems to be good. Just pick whichever photo calls to you that day.

This time it's a risotto + risotto combo~ Actually, I'd already had both of these before. But they're my all-time favorites, so I really couldn't not order them. I usually get one pasta and one risotto, but lately I'm obsessed with risotto...

What does the jambalaya rosé risotto taste like?

Hey Joji's jambalaya rosé risotto is ₩17,000: a risotto in a tomato-based rosé sauce with big sausage, seafood and barley rice.

Jambalaya rosé risotto topped with sausage

It comes topped with a big, plump, hearty sausage. The sausage is snappy and the juices burst out, so good. And the risotto is made with a tomato-based rosé sauce, so it's creamy without being heavy.

Can you see the sausage juices... Cut a big piece of the salty sausage and eat it in one bite with the risotto, and it's seriously delicious. And the highlight of the jambalaya rosé risotto is that the rice is barley rice! So every bite has this chewy texture that I loooove.

There's also a lot of seafood, like shrimp and squid. The seafood is really tender and nice to chew. It's sprinkled with garlic flakes on top too, so it's fragrant and crunchy, and all the ingredients worked so well together.

Why the duck steak cream risotto is my favorite

Hey Joji's duck steak cream risotto is ₩17,000, my number-one pick and absolute all-time favorite here. It's a thick, rich cream risotto with truffle aroma and a gentle spiciness, topped with duck steak.

The sauce is so thiiick and creamy. A faint truffle aroma drifts up, and there's a very subtle spiciness, so it never feels heavy.

On top comes a flavorful duck steak, crispy outside and juicy inside. Take a piece of the nicely seared, salty duck with the thick, creamy risotto and eat it in one big bite, and it's just really,,

If you like creamy dishes, I highly, highly recommend this one. I honestly want to eat it every single day.

Hey Joji's two risottos in Yeonnam-dong: final verdict

Everything at Hey Joji, the Yeonnam-dong pasta spot, is delicious! I loved both: the tomato-based jambalaya rosé risotto with plump sausage, seafood and chewy barley rice, and the duck steak cream risotto, where thick cream with truffle aroma and a gentle spiciness meets crispy-outside, juicy-inside duck steak. The duck steak cream risotto is my favorite, especially... If you're looking for a Yeonnam-dong pasta spot with great Western food, I highly recommend it!
