Cleansing balm for sensitive skin: HEEDA Charcoal Cleansing Balm
In short
HEEDA Jirisan Moist Charcoal Cleansing Balm is a makeup cleanser I have used for years on my combination, sensitive skin in Korea. It melted into an oil with the warmth of my hands, removed my waterproof eyeliner, and left my skin feeling less tight, though skin reactions can vary.

What was this cleansing balm like for sensitive, combination skin?

I wear makeup often, and I tend to worry about breakouts the day after I fail to remove it. Oils did not suit my skin and sometimes caused breakouts, while after the weather turned cooler, water-type cleansers alone did not feel quite sufficient. So I started using HEEDA Charcoal Cleansing Balm while looking for a less irritating cleansing balm.

What were the texture and cleansing process like?

When I applied it to my face and massaged gently, the black formula melted with my body heat and turned into an oil. It turned white when it came into contact with water and rinsed away. I used it not only to remove makeup but also on days when blackheads bothered me.

Did it remove makeup and waterproof products too?

It removed the waterproof eyeliner I own without my needing to use a separate lip-and-eye remover. When blackheads and dead skin around my nose bothered me, I used it with a gentle massage, and afterward I felt that my skin looked clearer.

How did my skin feel after use—tight or irritated?

I did not strongly experience the burning and stinging I had felt with products that were more irritating. In my case, it left my skin feeling moisturized without redness or tightness, and it felt less dry even when I did not apply toner immediately after cleansing.

Final thoughts: Who might it suit?

After using both oil- and water-type cleansers, I settled on HEEDA Charcoal Cleansing Balm. If you have combination, sensitive skin and are concerned about tightness after removing makeup, my experience may be useful to consider. Skin reactions vary, though, so it is best to use it according to your own skin condition.
