Gangnam café, mango cake & grapefruit ade: Something About Coffee
In short
Something About Coffee is a large three-floor dessert café on Gangnam-daero 102-gil, between Sinnonhyeon Station and Gangnam Station in Seoul. After a meal with a friend on a weekend afternoon, the writer sat on the first floor of Something About Coffee and had a mango cake slice, a choco pudding cookie, a black sesame cream latte, an iced americano and a grapefruit ade, and the cake piled with fresh mango was the favourite. With a spacious, cool interior and a wide range of desserts, Something About Coffee is worth recommending for meeting friends or a date in Gangnam.

Where is Something About Coffee?
Something About Coffee (썸띵어바웃커피) is a large three-floor café at 30 Gangnam-daero 102-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, between Sinnonhyeon Station and Gangnam Station. It is open 11:00–22:30, and dine-in is available until 22:00, I heard.
I had plans with a friend in Gangnam and was wondering where to go after our meal, so we ended up at Something About Coffee. It's between Sinnonhyeon Station and Gangnam Station, so it's easy to get to, and it's known for its desserts, so I'd wanted to try it for a while.
Is there enough seating at Something About Coffee on a weekend afternoon?
It was really crowded on a weekend afternoon, but since it's a big three-floor café, there was quite a lot of seating. We sat on the first floor.
From the moment we walked in, the high ceiling and wide space meant it didn't feel stuffy at all, and thanks to the cool air conditioning we could relax comfortably even on a hot day.
That said, it's such a popular place that it filled up soon after we sat down. If you're visiting on a weekend, keep that in mind.
What's in the dessert display at Something About Coffee?
The moment we stepped inside, the dessert display caught my eye!

There was a really wide variety: financiers, cookies, scones, butter tteok (rice cake) and cakes, among others.

Everything looked so good that choosing took forever.

The interior vibe is a little different on each floor, so it was fun to look around, and there are moody lights and decor props here and there, which makes it great for photos too.

There were so many options, but the one I was really curious about was the butter tteok!!! Next time I'm coming just for the butter tteok,, it looked warm and amazing..

There were so many cookies too?!?!?! I was curious about the injeolmi (roasted soybean powder rice cake) black sesame cookie as well!!
There were lots of couples on dates and groups of friends hanging out, so it looked like a good meetup spot in Gangnam.
What we ordered at Something About Coffee
This time my friend and I ordered two desserts and three drinks at Something About Coffee.
- Choco pudding cookie
- Mango cake slice
- Black sesame cream latte
- Iced americano
- Grapefruit ade

Mango cake slice: how much fresh mango is on it?
The mango cake slice at Something About Coffee is generously topped with fresh mango and packed with cream, and it's the one I'd recommend most from what we ate that day. It was the one I was most looking forward to, it looked gorgeous, and after one bite I understood why it's so popular.

The mango was seriously the masterstroke............... There's so much sweet, soft fresh mango that anyone who likes fruit will be totally satisfied! The sponge was fluffy and the cream wasn't heavy, so I could enjoy it to the very end. Personally, it's the one I'd recommend most from that day.

What's the texture of the choco pudding cookie?
The choco pudding cookie at Something About Coffee was slightly crisp outside and moist inside. The chocolate flavor is rich, so I think people who love sweet desserts will like it.
It had a nice chewy texture here and there and went really well with coffee. My friend and I finished it in no time.

What does the black sesame cream latte taste like?
The black sesame cream latte at Something About Coffee is a must-try if you usually like black sesame. The black sesame cream on top was really rich and nutty.
The sweet and nutty flavors blended together nicely, so it was satisfying even without a dessert. Coffee and black sesame went together much better than I expected.

Iced americano and grapefruit ade
The iced americano at Something About Coffee isn't very acidic and has a pleasantly nutty profile, so it's good alongside desserts. It tastes clean, so after a sweet dessert it felt like it reset my mouth.
The grapefruit ade was also more satisfying than I expected.

The fresh grapefruit aroma came through strongly and it wasn't too sweet, which I liked!!!! It's a perfect drink to have ice-cold, so it really suits hot weather~
How was Something About Coffee as a big café near Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station?
Overall, Something About Coffee is a place I can confidently recommend if you're looking for a large café with great desserts near Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station. With its wide, cool space, variety of desserts and satisfying drinks, it's good for chatting with friends and seems like a good date spot too.
I especially hope you'll try the mango cake slice. It's generously loaded with fresh mango, and every bite made me happy. Next time I'd really like to try the other cakes and the scones.
If you're looking for a big café in Gangnam or a dessert spot in Sinnonhyeon, I recommend Something About Coffee :)
