Seongbuk, Seoul pho restaurant for dinner with Hanoi beer: Mibundang
In short
Mibundang Sungshin Women's University Branch is a pho restaurant tucked inside the Sungshin Women's University food alley in Seongbuk, Seoul. On a summer evening, a couple ordered brisket, flank and tendon pho, chadol brisket pho and potato-wrapped shrimp with a Hanoi beer, and both the rich broth and the generous meat toppings satisfied. With its long bar counter, Mibundang Sungshin Women's University Branch is also an easy pick for eating alone.

There are days when, even in the heat, you find yourself craving a steaming bowl of pho. One of those days took me to Mibundang, a pho (Vietnamese rice noodle soup) specialty restaurant that's a local favorite near Sungshin Women's University. The rich broth, tender meat and chewy noodles are all so satisfying that it's a must-visit for anyone who loves pho.

Once it cools down, Mibundang is popular enough for lunch waits near the campus. Turnover is quick, though, so you don't wait long — and if you're looking for pho around here, this is the first place I'd recommend.

You pay first at the kiosk near the entrance before being seated.

This time we ordered brisket tendon pho, brisket pho, and potato-wrapped shrimp together. Going as a pair means you can order different things and compare — always fun.
Inside Mibundang: bar seating that's great for solo dining

Inside, the long run of bar-style seating means solo diners won't feel out of place at all.

If anything, the quiet atmosphere lets you focus on your meal — really comfortable. Looked like about 18 seats total?

It's a fully open kitchen, so you can watch the whole cooking process — and the spotless kitchen with staff moving briskly around gave a real sense of confidence in their hygiene. 👍
Each table comes with hoisin sauce, chili sauce, and hot sauce so you can doctor your bowl however you like.
Danmuji (pickled radish), pickled onions, and Thai chilies — one plate per person — arrived first as sides for the pho.

We also paired this with a bottle of Hanoi beer. Clean and refreshing — perfect for easing into pho on a brutally hot summer evening.

After a short wait, the pho arrived together in big bowls.

Cheers — again!
Brisket tendon pho — my husband's pick

The meat topping is so generous you can barely see the noodles underneath.

The brisket and flank are soft and savory,

while the tendon keeps a chewy bite that adds extra texture to enjoy. This is the kind of hearty bowl you reach for on a really hungry day — practically a tonic meal at this point, right? 😃
Brisket pho — my pick

The clear, rich broth carries a subtle hint of spice that's never overwhelming — a style anyone could enjoy. Even our daughter eats Mibundang's pho happily.

From the very first spoonful, the deep, clean broth flavor fills your mouth — rich but never greasy, with a clean finish. We call this hot soup 'refreshing!' That's exactly why it's craveable even in this summer heat!
The noodles are springy and hold the broth well,

and the savory flavor from the thin-sliced brisket, the crunchy bean sprouts, and the chewy noodles come together so well they feel like 'one body.'

Add some cilantro and you'll get a vivid taste close to local Vietnamese pho.

How to enjoy Mibundang's pho, and the potato-wrapped shrimp
The table also has instructions for enjoying Mibundang's pho to the fullest.

They suggest tasting the deep flavor of the base broth first, then adding hoisin sauce and hot sauce to taste for a different, spicier appeal.

The potato-wrapped shrimp we ordered as a side had a nice combo of crispy shredded potato and plump shrimp. Eaten alongside the pho, the texture contrast made it a delicious little extra.
Wrapping up
A clean dining space, friendly service, and that rich broth — all of it was satisfying. It's a comfortable spot whether you're eating alone or coming with friends or family. We got to enjoy both the hearty richness of the brisket tendon pho and the clean, light appeal of the brisket pho — a genuinely satisfying meal. Next time I'm craving hot soup, this is the pho restaurant near Sungshin Women's University I'll want to return to!
