Mangwon café with alley views and 3 coffee beans: PICT Roastery

In short

PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch is a roastery café in Mangwon-dong, Mapo, Seoul. I ordered an iced latte, Americano, and matcha cheesecake while comparing three coffee beans beside the full-height alley-view windows. Verdict: a calm spot for lingering over coffee in Mangwon-dong.

Mangwon-dong is the kind of neighborhood where there are so many pretty cafés and good places to eat tucked into its lanes that simply walking around and finding somewhere you like is part of the fun. PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch had such a neat exterior and nice atmosphere that I was already looking forward to it before going in.

It was clean overall, yet still had that distinctive roastery-café feel. It suited the cute, small-lane atmosphere that is so characteristic of Mangwon-dong, too!

Café that suits the Mangwon-dong alley

When I opened the door and went in, it felt cozier than I expected, and everywhere I looked gave the sense that this was a café that roasts and handles its coffee directly.

Cozy roastery café interior

PICT Roastery is on the basement level, reached by following the stairs down. Once inside, it felt much more open than I had expected. What I especially loved was the full-height window at the back of the café, looking straight out onto a Mangwon-dong alley!

The coffee-making area and equipment especially caught my eye, so I think coffee lovers would enjoy looking at that part as well.

A neat, comfortable café atmosphere

The interior was neatly arranged throughout. Rather than feeling as if the tables and seats were packed tightly together, it had an atmosphere where you could settle in comfortably—great for chatting over a coffee or taking a short break. I liked how calm the whole space felt.

The menu and comparing three coffee beans

I also took a photo of the menu before ordering. You can see the coffee and dessert selections at a glance, so if you are planning a visit, the menu photo may be useful.

Another memorable thing about PICT Roastery was that you can compare the coffee beans yourself. There were three types of beans available in the café, each with a slightly different aroma and character. True to a roastery café, it felt like a place where you can enjoy not only drinking coffee, but also choosing the beans and experiencing their aromas.

Iced latte and matcha cheesecake together

I ordered an iced latte, an Americano, and matcha cheesecake. ☕️🍰 As you would expect from a roastery café, the coffee was really good. ☺️

And one of the items I had been looking forward to most that day was the matcha cheesecake 🍵💚 If you like the combination of matcha and cheesecake, I think it is worth trying at least once~ The gently bitter note distinctive to matcha went nicely with the cheesecake's soft, rich character, making it great with coffee.

Clean, well-maintained café restroom

Even the restroom was clean

One thing I quietly consider important when using a café is the restroom. It was clean and well maintained overall, so there was no inconvenience using it.

PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch was a Mangwon-dong café where it was easy to spend time comfortably while enjoying coffee and dessert. From the exterior and interior to the coffee-making space, there were quite a few photo-worthy details, but above all, I enjoyed taking my time over coffee and dessert. If you are looking for a café in Mangwon-dong or somewhere quiet for a cup of coffee, I think it would be nice to stop by.
