Walk-in business lunch eel rice bowl near Seonleung Station: Manmok
In short
Manmok is a Gochang freshwater eel rice bowl restaurant a five-minute walk from Exit 2 of Seonleung Station in Gangnam, Seoul. Arriving without a reservation at 11:10 on a weekday lunch break, every seat at Manmok except the bar table was already booked, and the whole-eel rice bowl arrived quickly. With its upscale solid-wood interior and group tables, Manmok works just as well for a business lunch or team dinner as it does for eating solo at the counter.

I heard there was a great eel rice bowl spot near my office, so I went to check it out — and this is a genuinely satisfied review after meeting the eel rice bowl of my life 😋 (100% would go back!!) It's got group seating you can reserve, so it's great for team dinners and also works well for business meals. Here's my review of Manmok, a Seonleung Station restaurant that's great for team dinners!
Where Manmok is near Seonleung Station, and where to park

Manmok, a Seonleung Station restaurant that's great for team dinners, is about a 5-minute walk from Exit 2 of Seonleung Station, so it's convenient to get to by public transit. Parking is limited to just 2 spots in front of the restaurant, and if those are full, you'll need to use a nearby public parking lot!
Inside Manmok: group tables and a bar counter for solo diners

Inside, the calm lighting and upscale wood interior, with just the right amount of negative space, matched the eel rice bowl really well ☺️ The refined atmosphere and neatly presented food made it look perfect for business meals, and with group seating and reservations available, it also seemed convenient for larger parties!

There was also a bar table near the entrance, good for eating solo. We hadn't made a reservation, and it turned out every seat except this one was booked — nearly a full house! If you're planning to visit, I'd recommend making a reservation or arriving before 11:30 (we got there around 11:10).
Manmok's lunch menu: eel rice bowl and nothing else

For lunch, they only serve eel rice bowl, in three sizes: half, whole, and whole-and-a-half. In the evening, they also serve nabe hot pot and grilled dishes. There was a wide selection of alcohol too, but since we were there on a company lunch break, that was a pass 🥲 There was a strong 'this-is-a-real-hidden-gem' aura coming off that single-dish menu 🥹 I was so excited from this point on lol. My friend and I both ordered the whole portion!
What comes with the whole eel rice bowl, and how it tastes

The eel rice bowl arrived 💛 The main dish came as a full spread with salad, matsutake mushroom broth, and chawanmushi (savory steamed egg custard) 😋

Manmok apparently uses only the highest-grade Korean eel, from Gochang, and cooks it in the Kanto style, which preserves the eel's texture and clean flavor. The method is: grill once, steam, then brush on their secret sauce and grill twice more over charcoal, cutting the greasiness while keeping it tender and deeply flavored! Maybe that's why it was noticeably soft without being too oily — I felt satisfyingly full but never heavy. The eel rice bowl also wasn't overly salty, with just the right hint of sweetness in the sauce, and the balance was so good I was genuinely impressed while eating 😋

Eel is famous for having a lot of small bones, but the prep here was so thorough that I only came across one or two tiny bones — and eaten together with the rice, it was really filling.

I also tried it with the side dishes and accompaniments that came with it,

and my favorites were the wasabi and pickled ginger haha.

The chawanmushi was incredibly soft, and the broth was clear with a deep matsutake mushroom aroma — a good pairing that complemented the eel rice bowl without overpowering it!
Dessert at Manmok: matcha or black tea ice cream

After we finished eating, they brought out ice cream for dessert, with a choice of matcha or black tea, so we each picked one! I had the black tea, and it felt like eating a really rich milk tea in ice cream form — delicious right up to the last bite! They also served the ice cream on a frozen plate, and I loved noticing that kind of attention to small details 💛
It felt like I'd visited a place near Seonleung Station that's truly serious about eel rice bowl. The eel rice bowl itself was fantastic, but the upscale interior matched it so well, and there wasn't a single side dish that felt out of place ☺️ If you're looking for a Seonleung Station restaurant that's great for team dinners, business meals, or eating solo, give Manmok a try 🤗
