Eating in your room means you don't have to watch the clock, so I'm a big fan of takeout sashimi!!

This time I visited Han's Kitchen (한스키친), a sashimi takeout specialist at Sokcho Jungang Market. My route was to wander the market for snacks and finish by picking up sashimi from Han's Kitchen :) Browsing the market is half the fun of a Sokcho trip, haha

Haha, after looking around at all the street food, taking fresh sashimi home at the end settled the dinner question, so it was really convenient!

What caught my eye is that Han's Kitchen brings in fresh fish and seafood every day and serves live fish delivered that same day, with fast turnover! Freshness matters most for sashimi, right?! I heard it's run by a head chef with long experience in preparing raw fish, so I was looking forward to it haha

You can pre-order through Naver Booking at Han's Kitchen, and Naver Booking orders take priority. When you look for sashimi takeout in Sokcho Jungang Market it's crowded and it can be a bit chaotic to figure out where to order, lol, so being able to order ahead was handy. What I ordered was this: the small mixed sashimi platter!

I heard you can also book by phone on the day! But same-day booking may not be possible, so it's probably best to reserve in advance if you can??

Where do you pick up Han's Kitchen sashimi?

To pick up your sashimi from Han's Kitchen, just go to Han's Suisan Market (한스수산마켓) right next door! For travelers with a schedule like me, you can book for a set time and swing by, so planning your route seemed easy. And the most important moment for sashimi is when you open the box, lol

How did the small mixed platter taste at the accommodation?

When I opened the package, the sashimi was neatly arranged, so it was easy to lay out and eat right away in the room! You don't have to go back out to a restaurant, and eating comfortably at your accommodation is surely the best part of takeout sashimi, hahaha

The sashimi was glossy at first glance... I'm disappointed when slices are too thick or too thin, but these were cut just right. Above all, texture matters for sashimi, and it was chewy and tasted fresh, so my chopsticks kept going back haha

It's good on its own and super tasty dipped in soy sauce!! I came all the way to Sokcho, so leaving without sashimi would have felt sad, lol. Especially when you bring back a few other things from the market and set out a whole spread, that's the real charm of a trip, isn't it?
