Yangjae Katsu is a tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) restaurant on Nonhyeon-ro 31-gil in Yangjae-dong, Seocho, Seoul, within walking distance of Yangjae Station Exit 8. After work, the writer and her husband ordered the loin katsu and shrimp tempura set (16,500 won) and the loin and hire katsu (pork tenderloin cutlet) 2-piece set (17,000 won), and pink salt topped with wasabi was the best pairing. Yangjae Katsu suits anyone who wants to compare thick loin and tender tenderloin cutlets in one meal.

Maebong Station Korean BBQ date before giving birth: Woosang

Woosang Hwarogui Gangnam Maebong Station Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant grilling beef over bijangtan charcoal on Nonhyeon-ro 34-gil in Gangnam, Seoul. Heavily pregnant and close to giving birth, the writer shared the Woo (牛) beef platter (119,000 won) with her husband in a semi-curtain room, finished with egg yolk soy sauce rice and doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice stew), and remembered the angeomi-sal and marinated beef tongue best. Verdict: Woosang Hwarogui Maebong Station Branch is a quiet, private place for a date or anniversary beef dinner.

Siheung meat restaurant after Gwangmyeong Cave: Bulhyangjip bulgogi

Bulhyangjip Mulwang Lake Main Branch is a charcoal-grilled bulgogi restaurant tucked inside the Mulwang Lake food district in Siheung, Gyeonggi. Stopping in for lunch after a trip to Gwangmyeong Cave, we ordered charcoal scallion bulgogi and gochujang bulgogi along with water bibim noodles, country grandma's doenjang stew and a big earthenware pot of steamed egg. The soy-based scallion bulgogi wrapped up with the cold bibim noodles was the most satisfying combination of the meal.
