Bucheon bakery, no Wednesday wait, grain loaf for grandma: Chamsae
In short
Chamsae Bori Sikppang (Bucheon main branch) is a bakery specialising in healthy sticky-barley loaves in Simgokbon-dong, Bucheon, Gyeonggi. The writer walked in with no line just after 11am on a weekday Wednesday, bought rye, grain and Grand Prize sticky-barley loaves to share with family, and gave the grain sticky-barley loaf to grandma along with kaya jam. There's no queue on weekdays, but Chamsae Bori's bread still sells out fast, so arriving early is the answer.

Today I'm introducing a place I keep going back to. If you live in Bucheon, you already know this famous spot: Chamsae Bori Sikppang, Bucheon main branch (참새보리식빵 부천본점).

Is there no wait at Chamsae Bori Sikppang on weekdays?
There's always a line on weekends, but on weekdays there's definitely none, so you can walk right in. I came on a weekday last time too and bought a ton of bread. On weekends, buying a loaf is anything but easy because of the line.

It opens at 10am and closes right away once the ingredients sell out. Don't assume no line means you can stroll in whenever. Early sell-outs happen, so get moving!

I got there a bit past 11am on a Wednesday, and the shelves were already patchy. No line, yes, but that doesn't mean the bread will still be there! Haha.

Chamsae Bori's 3 sticky-barley loaves: what's the difference?
The shop sells three loaves: rye sticky barley, grain sticky barley and Grand Prize sticky barley. Each has its own character, so the shop's descriptions make it easy to choose. Last time I bought all three and shared them with my family. Our household ate the rye sticky barley.

Rye sticky-barley loaf: slice it thin for toast
The rye sticky barley loaf is said to be good for gut health. It's nice torn by hand, but I sliced it thin for the toaster, and crisped up with jam it was really delicious!!

Chamsae Bori also sells eco bags and strawberry jam
They sell a sticky barley eco bag too. The more I look at the barley grain design, the cuter it is, haha.

There's strawberry jam as well. Since the bread itself is made by hand and healthily, I feel I can trust the jam more than store-bought ones. If you want something sweet and tasty, I recommend buying the strawberry jam too!
The shop is tidy overall. Customers kept streaming in and picking quickly without hesitating, so it's clearly a health bread with lots of neighborhood regulars. Nobody hasn't tried it, but it seems nobody has tried it just once.

Visit in the morning and you can watch the bread coming out in real time, haha. So fun! It made me want to buy it piping hot and rush home to eat it!

Mascarpone milk cream if you find plain bread too dry
They sell mascarpone milk cream too. Some people don't like the loaf because it's dry, and for them I'd recommend eating it with the mascarpone milk cream.

It's described as a soft milk cream made in-house with the deep flavor of mascarpone cream. You know it has to be refrigerated, right!!

Grain sticky-barley loaf, a gift for grandma with kaya jam
The grain sticky barley loaf is said to be the best bread for blood sugar control. When I gave it to my grandma, she really liked it.
I'd brought her kaya jam (coconut egg jam) from a trip abroad, but in the end you have to spread it on bread, right?! Wheat flour isn't good for older people, so I was a bit worried, and Chamsae Bori's grain sticky barley was perfect! Healthy and tasty.

Grand Prize sticky-barley loaf from the Master of Life TV show
The Grand Prize sticky barley loaf, praised by a master baker! It's the bread that won the grand prize in the Bread War on Master of Life (생활의 달인, a Korean TV show). Long, 70-hour cold fermentation is said to produce gluten-breaking enzymes that keep your stomach comfortable, making it great as a healthy meal-replacement bread.

How to store Chamsae Bori sticky-barley loaves
All the loaves keep at room temperature for up to 3 days. To freeze, seal them from the start, then thaw at room temperature for half a day before eating!

Chamsae Bori stamp card and free review financier
You get one stamp per loaf, and with 10 stamps you can get a loaf free, they said. I also got a financier (small almond cake) for writing a Naver review, haha.

My card now has 6 stamps, continuing from last time, haha. A loaf that suits healthy meals for the whole family! These days I often have trouble digesting, but Chamsae Bori never does that to me, so I can eat it with confidence.
Chamsae Bori won the Grand Prize on SBS Master of Life and was reportedly ranked Korea's No. 1 loaf nationwide! Do stop by and try it!
