Why I went to Seomun Market for peanut bread

Daesin Peanut Bread (대신땅콩빵) bakes peanut bread and egg bread live at Daegu's Seomun Market. Peanut bread is a snack I grew up grabbing on the street, and it seems like peanut bread shops are popping up again lately.

Seomun Market is Daegu's biggest market, with kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup), gimbap (seaweed rice rolls), hotteok (sweet filled pancakes) and more, so you can sort out both meals and snacks. On this visit I packed up peanut bread as a snack for the kids and enjoyed it, nutty and tasty.

At Daesin Peanut Bread, freshly baked peanut bread keeps coming out and sits warm on display. There's also a cold, nutty peanut latte, so you can finish with a nutty dessert while wandering the market.

Where is Daesin Peanut Bread in Seomun Market, really?

The listed address is 36-8 Keunjang-ro 26-gil, Jung-gu, Daegu, and it's open daily 08:00–18:00. But if you go to that exact address, you'll end up at an office ^^ This is the kind of view you get.

The real shop is down below! Daesin Peanut Bread is right behind Seomun Market Zone 2, in the passage between it and the fabric market.

I hear it's a Daegu dessert spot that the YouTuber Hiban visited too.

The outside is slightly crisp and the inside is soft, and the display is full of peanut bread.

Besides peanut bread, you can buy plain peanuts here too. They're purplish and piled high.

Right next to them were black peanuts. I wondered if they were roasted, but no, they're naturally black.

How many peanuts are in Daesin's peanut bread?

This isn't peanut bread with one or two peanuts inside; it's almost all peanuts. There's a baking machine at the back of the shop, so you can watch the bread being made.

Even on a weekday afternoon, customers kept lining up. Want to see the hands at work? I thought a machine was dropping the peanuts in, haha. They're really fast.

And the surprising part: the nutty batter is tiny compared to the peanuts. I like it more because you really get to enjoy the healthy peanuts.

How does the peanut latte at Daesin Peanut Bread taste?

The cold peanut latte is sweeter than I expected, and the nuttiness comes through well. Daytime still felt a bit warm, so I had a cup with the peanut bread.

It was a great pairing with the bread.

What I packed for the kids, and the prices

For a simple snack with the kids, I took away 45 peanut breads for ₩6,000 and 2 egg breads for ₩4,000 (₩2,000 each). They came in a cute little bag.

Want to see the real thing? I couldn't tell if it was bread or roasted peanuts... the peanuts look bigger than the batter, they're so generous. A healthy snack too, right?

The egg bread is about the size of an adult palm, big and thick~ and has a whole egg inside, so you get tasty bread and egg together. I warmed it up and the kids ate it happily and shared nicely.
