Why I picked up Choegang Pizza in Bucheon instead of ordering delivery

Choegang Pizza (최강피자) is a neighborhood pizza shop in the Hanla Maeul Complex 3 shopping arcade in Wonmi-gu, Bucheon, and this time I went to the shop and picked up my order instead of getting delivery. Honestly, I order Choegang Pizza on Baedal Minjok (a Korean delivery app) all the time, but a freshly baked pizza just tastes different when you eat it right away, right? 😆

How much is the Choegang Pizza Wednesday discount?

Choegang Pizza takes ₩7,000 off every pizza on Wednesdays. They run different discount events on different days of the week, but Wednesday is the one day you really need to remember!

The name "Choegang Pizza" (meaning "the strongest pizza") is kind of amazing too. It's short, but once you hear it you never forget it, haha. ₩7,000 off every pizza on Wednesdays... at this point Wednesday should be declared Pizza Day, no? 🤣 Pizza prices are pretty painful these days, so a discount like this is very welcome.

Choegang Pizza Main Branch and the takeout wait

The Main Branch runs as a takeout and delivery shop with no dining hall. There are chairs outside where you can wait, which was nice for resting a bit after ordering.

Your order is ready in about 15-20 minutes. If you phone in your order before you go, you can cut the wait even more, which sounds really convenient! They also give a free Zero Cola if you do the receipt review event, so I'd recommend joining in while you wait. 😊

Choegang Pizza menu and what I ordered

The menu has plenty of choices from basic pizzas to premium ones, and they also sell sides like smoked chicken and spaghetti, so it looks great for eating with family. My belief is that a good pizza place has to nail the basics, so I ordered the "Choegang Combination (L)". The delivery reviews also recommended the combination a lot!

Pizza boxes were piled up on one side of the shop, all printed with "Choegang Choegang Choegang". So intense, haha

Finally I headed home with the Choegang Pizza in hand! Why is the walk home with a pizza so exciting? 🤣 On the way I stopped at a convenience store for a cold beer and an Asahi highball. Tonight's late-night snack felt perfect, and I was seriously proud of myself. 🍺🍕

What is Choegang Pizza's pirodough?

According to the Choegang Pizza pamphlet, they use "pirodough" (피로도우), which they say is a first in Korea. It's apparently a dough that goes through a fermentation process more than ordinary dough so it's a bit easier to digest, and maybe that's why my stomach felt fine the next day even after eating it as a late-night snack. They also generously packed in every sauce!

How did the Choegang Combination (L) taste?

Even though it's the basic combination, the Choegang Combination (L) had really generous toppings. Ham, mushrooms and vegetables were piled on with no gaps, so it passed on looks alone!

I took a bite full of expectations and... was combination always this good a pizza...? 😂 The ingredients are packed in without holding back, the cheese is rich and nutty, and the dough is chewy, so the whole combo works so well. There was a reason the reviews recommended the combination so much.

I meant to eat only two slices... and when I came to my senses I was on my fourth. 🤣 I should have held back, but my appetite control failed again...

Why I recommend Choegang Pizza as good-value takeout pizza in Bucheon

A cold Asahi highball with a Choegang Pizza combination made for a really happy late-night snack. Delivery is tasty too, but going in person and bringing home a freshly baked pizza made it taste even better. If you're looking for a good pizza place in Bucheon or good-value pickup pizza, I'd recommend giving Choegang Pizza a try! 😊🍕
