Gudi salt bread bakery with bacon jalapeño ciabatta: La Cascata
In short
La Cascata is a takeout bakery and café near Guro Digital Complex Station (Gudi) in Dongjak, Seoul, known for its wide range of salt bread, ciabatta and sandwiches. The writer took home La Cascata's salt bread, olive salt bread, bacon jalapeño ciabatta and a chodang corn (sweet corn) latte for a bread meal at home. La Cascata's clean, chewy salt bread and crisp-outside, soft-inside ciabatta show why it is called a go-to salt bread bakery in Gudi.

What kind of bakery is La Cascata?
La Cascata is a bakery and café near Guro Digital Complex Station, open every day from 9am to 7pm. It's known as a great bakery near the station and a top salt bread spot in Gudi (the Guro Digital Complex area), so I stopped by.

La Cascata's atmosphere and seating
La Cascata is a takeout, packaging and delivery shop, so there was only about one small table. Still, the warm, cozy mood left an impression, and it felt quite upscale.
True to a bakery-café, the coffee menu was varied too. With all kinds of coffee, lattes and tea that go well with bread, it was easy to pick a few things to order.

What breads does La Cascata have?
La Cascata had a wide range of salt breads and ciabattas. At a glance, many of them were items I'd had trouble finding elsewhere, so the choice felt great.

La Cascata is also a great sandwich spot in Gudi. The sandwiches looked big, filling and tasty, so they seem very popular as an easy lunch.

I liked that the shop had all sorts of event and discount info posted, and La Cascata's philosophy and slogan were written out in detail, which made it feel trustworthy.
What I ordered at La Cascata
- Salt bread
- Olive salt bread
- Bacon jalapeño ciabatta
- Chodang corn latte (a latte made with sweet chodang corn)

My order came out quickly. I was taking it all to go anyway, but the sunshine and the shop's mood were so nice that I asked them to plate it.

Everything looked neat and clean, which made the breads and bakery items look even tastier. The color was just what you'd expect from a popular salt bread spot in Gudi.

The breads were so tidy and evenly colored you could mistake them for models, and with so many kinds, the best part for a bread lover like me was being able to try several.
Why I picked the salt bread and olive salt bread
La Cascata's salt bread is a rich, flavorful original salt bread. Coarse salt crystals on top made it feel like a properly made salt bread.
I picked the olive salt bread because I really love olives, and they were big and visible, generously packed in, so I could feel the quality of the product.

Bacon jalapeño ciabatta and chodang corn latte
The bacon jalapeño ciabatta has bacon and jalapeño, two things I love. The other items all looked good too, but this one caught my eye, so I chose it.
I'd had the chodang corn latte once before and was so impressed by how good it was that it comes to mind from time to time, so I ordered it. And yes... even after a while, it was just as delicious.
It's a sweet corn latte with a thick, rich corn base that you stir in well, so whenever a sweet craving hits, having it regularly would be very satisfying.

How did La Cascata's bread taste at home?
I headed home with all the breads and drinks. The weather's lovely lately and it's autumn, so I'm craving food like crazy, and today I get to feast on bread haha. Ready!
Salt bread: the textbook original
La Cascata's salt bread was plain, chewy and just salty enough, like the textbook original salt bread. I think anyone could enjoy it, with no hit-or-miss.

Olive salt bread: filling like a meal bread
The salty olives and chewy salt bread went together really well. You bite into olives here and there, so it felt like a meal bread and was very filling.

Bacon jalapeño ciabatta: crisp outside, moist inside
Perhaps thanks to the bacon and jalapeño, the bacon jalapeño ciabatta had deep savory flavor. It was crisp outside and moist inside, both very crunchy and juicy, and so delicious.
Overall verdict on La Cascata
It was a very satisfying bread meal. There's clearly a reason it's famous as a salt bread spot in Gudi! I felt I ate the breads deliciously and filling, and I was happy.
If you're looking for a friendly, tasty bakery in Guro Digital Complex with affordable, varied salt bread, ciabatta, sandwiches, sliced bread and coffee, go to La Cascata!
