Charcoal-grilled eel with a friend, 770g and eel soup: Yuil Jangeo

In short

Yuil Jangeo is a freshwater eel charcoal-grill restaurant on Donggok-ro in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju. Two friends prepaid for 770g of eel (three fish), lightly re-grilled the pre-seared slices, then finished with two orders of dessert eel soup poured over rice. The ginger-wrapped bites were good enough to make a repeat visit a promise.

The side dishes came out neatly arranged~!

You can grab extra side dishes from the self-serve corner~! It's better to only take as much as you'll eat!

Bottled water served at Yuil Jangeo

The water was also just bottled mineral water, which I really liked.

Pre-seared eel means barely any grilling left

Since it came pre-seared, a little more grilling seemed to be enough~!

Looks delicious, right? Haha, it's getting nice and golden~!

Grilled the third fish too~ haha.

Dessert eel soup and ginger wraps

Also ordered two dessert eel soups. Haha, there's actual eel inside the soup too.

The eel was so good that it tasted great plain, and it tasted great wrapped too. No matter how you eat it, eel is delicious.

Dunking rice into the dessert eel soup and eating it up is absolute honey-flavored bliss! Haha.

After eating well, I took a bbanggeune (a selfie of myself, Bbang-i).

I, Bbang-i with a BMI of 29, went with a close friend and ate delicious grilled eel at Yuil Jangeo, a solid pick for eel in Gwangsan-gu, Pyeong-dong, or Donggok~! Haha, it was so good~~! Haha, tasty enough that I'm planning a repeat visit! The staff were also really kind, which was great, and my friend enjoyed the meal too so I'm happy.
