Yeonnam-dong Western restaurant for a weekday friend catch-up: Brivit

I finally got to spend a relaxed weekday with a friend, after ages! We're both usually so busy that meeting on a weekday to eat good food and chat doesn't happen very often. This time we went to Brivit Hongdae Yeonnam (브리비트 홍대연남) in Yeonnam-dong.

I visited through Supermembers, and I was really happy with it: the food was delicious, and the interior was so cute and pretty. Since it was a meal with a friend I hadn't seen in a while, I wanted a place with a nice atmosphere where we could take it easy, and this was just right.

Brivit Hongdae Yeonnam is a Western restaurant in Yeonnam-dong where the cute, pretty interior is the first thing you notice. When I walked in, the interior really was the first thing that caught my eye.

The atmosphere of the place is just so cute and pretty. Personally, when I visit a restaurant, the taste of the food matters, but I also care quite a bit about the atmosphere.

Especially on a day when you're meeting a friend after a long time, you want to eat good food in a prettier space, right?

Brivit Hongdae Yeonnam lived up to that expectation. I liked the atmosphere, so the meal felt even more enjoyable. If you're looking for somewhere to eat with a friend in Hongdae or Yeonnam-dong, it's worth keeping in mind.

What comes in the Beet Set for 2?

We had the Beet Set for 2 at Brivit Hongdae Yeonnam. We ordered three dishes in total: spicy vongole (clam) oil pasta, spicy fried eggplant, and scallion cream corn gnocchi.

I liked the set because you get pasta, gnocchi and fried eggplant all together. I prefer ordering several dishes and sharing small bites over eating just one thing, and this time all three dishes were different, so we got to try a bit of everything. Best of all, everything we ordered was delicious, so I felt we'd chosen well.

How does the spicy vongole oil pasta taste?

The first dish in the Beet Set for 2 is the spicy vongole oil pasta. If you're hunting for a good pasta place in Hongdae, this is probably the one you'd be most curious about.

I like oil pasta in general, and this spicy vongole oil pasta was really good too.

Unlike a regular oil pasta, it has a spicy kick, which makes it great to eat alongside the other dishes. Alternating it with the cream gnocchi was fun, since they're such different styles of pasta dish. If you love pasta, it's worth ordering at Brivit Hongdae Yeonnam at least once.

Is the spicy fried eggplant okay even if you don't like eggplant?

The second dish in the Beet Set for 2 is the spicy fried eggplant. It was one of the dishes I was personally looking forward to most this time.

I don't eat eggplant very often, but the fried eggplant that day was really good.

It's different from the pasta and gnocchi, so I was glad we ordered it together. Eating the spicy vongole oil pasta with the fried eggplant especially made the meal feel richer. If ordering only pasta feels a little lacking, adding the fried eggplant is a good idea. Even if you don't usually eat eggplant dishes, it's worth a try.

What does the scallion cream corn gnocchi taste like?

The last dish in the Beet Set for 2 is the scallion cream corn gnocchi.

The name alone is unusual, so I was curious how it would taste.

Not one of the three dishes let us down, and the gnocchi was satisfying too. After the spicy pasta and fried eggplant, eating the creamy gnocchi alongside made a really nice combination.

Even though they're all Western dishes, each one had its own style, which made eating them fun. If you want to share a variety of dishes with a friend, the Beet Set for 2 seems like a good choice.

This visit to Brivit Hongdae Yeonnam was extra nice because I could enjoy a relaxed weekday with a friend after so long. I'm usually busy, so meeting on a weekday to eat good food and talk really refreshed me.
