Famous Venny Yangsan Oslo Park Branch is an Australian-style brunch café in front of the B1 courtyard at Oslo Park in Beomeo, Mulgeum-eup, Yangsan. On a date, a couple ordered The Famous Venny (bacon), croissant French toast and two hand drip coffees, one Ethiopian and one Peruvian. They were happy with the pretty plating, the coffee aroma and free parking registered in the Oslo Park lot. Famous Venny is a Beomeo brunch café worth recommending for a date or a relaxing break.

Plan A Restaurant is an ocean-view Western restaurant on the 4th floor of a seaside building in Songdo, Pohang, open since 2015. On a weekday lunch with her mom, the writer ordered the spicy Plan B chop steak with sauce on the side, shrimp rosé spaghetti, chicken salad and lemonade, and the two of them finished every bite. With roomy seating, knee blankets and easy public parking, Plan A Restaurant is a good Songdo pick for a meal out with family or a partner.

Hangover clam kalguksu in Gimhae, washbasin-size bowl: Seosan Dongjuk

Seosan Dongjuk Kalguksu (서산동죽칼국수) is a dongjuk clam kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant on Deokjeong-ro in Gimhae, open daily from 10:00 to 21:00 with no break time. After a night of heavy drinking, a couple ordered 2 servings of clam kalguksu and an oknaksae (squid, octopus and shrimp) seafood pancake with the standard amount of Cheongyang chili. The kalguksu came in a washbasin-size bowl with seemingly endless clams, and sprinkling sesame seeds made it nutty like perilla kalguksu. For a refreshing clam broth to cure a hangover and easy parking, Seosan Dongjuk Kalguksu is a good fit.

Myeongji Cheotjip Jangyu Yulha Branch (명지첫집 장유율하점) is a bossam (boiled pork wraps) and Korean home-style restaurant on the 2nd floor of A1 Plaza in Yulha, Jangyu, Gimhae. On a day off, the writer and her husband ordered the bossam-only Jeonggalhan Sang lunch special for two. It came as one tray per person with bossam pork, kelp rice, pudding-soft steamed egg and doenjang (soybean paste) stew, and they finished every bite. With a café-like interior and free underground parking, Myeongji Cheotjip is a comfortable spot for a bossam lunch in Jangyu, Gimhae.

Date-night pork BBQ in Jangyu, Gimhae: cold ramen at Anmin Yulha

Anmin Yulha is a fresh-pork charcoal-brazier BBQ restaurant on Yulha Café Street in Gimhae, Gyeongnam. On a day off, a married couple ordered the half-pig set, crab doenjang stew (doenjang-jjigae), Masitte cold ramen and rice, and the Anmin Yulha staff grilled and cut the meat from start to finish so the couple could focus on talking. With wood-toned interiors, a private parking lot and baby chairs, Anmin Yulha works for a date and a family meal alike.
