Gangnam Station study café, ube cheesecake: Something About Coffee
In short
Something About Coffee is a large multi-floor café between Sinnonhyeon Station and Gangnam Station in Seoul, with plenty of seats for working or studying. On a weekday afternoon visit, the order was a matcha cold brew (₩7,500), a green grape mojito (₩7,500), an ube cheesecake (₩8,800) and a salted chocolate financier (₩3,500), and the matcha cold brew was the best drink. For quiet laptop work or studying near Gangnam Station, Something About Coffee on a weekday afternoon is a good fit.

What kind of café is Something About Coffee?
Something About Coffee (썸띵어바웃커피) is a big café in Gangnam, close to Sinnonhyeon Station and Gangnam Station, and a great place to work or study. By the writer's count, there's space to work or study from the first basement floor up through the first and second floors. There are still people, of course, but I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a café with good atmosphere and good food.
The recommended items are the matcha cold brew (₩7,500), ube cheesecake (₩8,800), salt choco financier (₩3,500) and green grape mojito (₩7,500).

It's close to both Sinnonhyeon Station and Gangnam Station, so it's easy to drop by after a meal nearby. After a blind date, a meet-up with a friend's friend or a regular date, it seems like a perfect place to spend a nice time.

Can you find a seat on a weekday afternoon?
The café is packed on weekends, but luckily on a weekday afternoon the first basement floor wasn't crowded at all! I went up first to order drinks and desserts.

Is it a good atmosphere for laptop work and studying?
You can bring a laptop or tablet and work, or just study. The interior feels bright and open, with an airy sense of space.

What desserts does Something About Coffee have?
Next to the order counter there's a whole display of desserts. Take a look at them one by one and pick what you want to eat. This time I chose the financier, and it was definitely delicious.

They also sell a mango sando (sandwich) and a fruit sando. They're in the fridge, so keep that in mind.
- Mango sando ₩9,900
- Fruit sando ₩8,000
What I ordered and the prices
This time I ordered 2 drinks and 2 desserts at Something About Coffee.
- Matcha cold brew ₩7,500
- Ube cheesecake ₩8,800
- Salt choco financier ₩3,500
- Green grape mojito ₩7,500

Matcha cold brew or green grape mojito: which is better?
Of the drinks, the matcha cold brew was especially good: coffee on the bottom and soft, sweet cream on top, and I loved it. The green grape mojito was definitely sweet, but refreshing! If I had to recommend just one, my vote goes to the matcha cold brew!
Matcha cold brew ₩7,500
The matcha cold brew has soft matcha cream on top and cold brew underneath, so you get a really cool, refreshing coffee.
Green grape mojito ₩7,500
Maybe because it's a mojito, the green grape mojito was refreshing and cold, with a properly strong mint flavor, and I really enjoyed it.
What does the ube cheesecake taste like?

I'd recommend the ube cheesecake (₩8,800) if you haven't tried ube yet! Ube tastes a bit like taro, nutty but with a sweet-potato feel. Ube is super hot right now, right? Paired with cheesecake, it was tasty. One tip: have it with a cream-topped drink or coffee rather than a sweet drink.

Salt choco financier ₩3,500
I couldn't eat the salt choco financier in the café and switched to takeout; it's ₩3,500. The financier was really soft, moist and so good.

Is the upstairs quieter?
Finally, I went up one more floor and took photos of the interior. It was definitely cozier, more comfortable and quieter than the floor below. Upstairs felt like a good place for couples to talk, or to study quietly, with an atmosphere that makes your focus shoot up on its own. I'd recommend it!

If you're looking for a café near Gangnam Station or Sinnonhyeon Station with tasty desserts and drinks and a good atmosphere, I recommend Something About Coffee.
