Braised cod head stew at Daegu set-meal spot Pyeongsang Myeonok

Pyeongsang Myeonok Sotbap Bansang Duryu Negeori Branch is a Korean set-meal and hot-pot-rice restaurant at 1763 Dalgubeol-daero in Seo-gu, Daegu. Over lunch with her mom, the writer ordered the small daegu ppol jorim (braised cod head and cheek) and worked through the doenjang kept warm on an induction plate, the neat side dishes, and the stew packed with radish, onion and potato. It was her first cod head stew, and the seasoning at Pyeongsang Myeonok was never too salty, soaking evenly into the fish and vegetables right to the last bite.

Daegu pasta restaurant with shrimp aglio olio: Etrenne Jukjeon

Etrenne Jukjeon Branch is a steak and pasta restaurant on the 1st floor of the World Mark West End retail building in Dalseo, Daegu, a short hop from Jukjeon Station. Two diners shared a cream tenderloin steak cooked medium and a shrimp aglio olio, and both plates arrived in generous portions. For a cream sauce that never turns heavy alongside a spicy oil pasta, Etrenne Jukjeon Branch is a solid pick.

Daegu restaurant with a filling tandoori tikka dinner: Rama & Bavana

Rama & Bavana Suseong Lake Branch is an Indian and Asian restaurant overlooking Suseong Lake in Suseong, Daegu. Two diners ordered chicken curry, cheese-and-seafood nasi goreng and tandoori tikka at Rama & Bavana, and the portions were so generous that the leftovers went home in a takeout box. Rama & Bavana is a good choice for tasting several dishes over an autumn evening with a lake view.
