Today I'm sharing a great meal spot in Gunsan that works well as a date course! I went to Insaeng Gamjatang Gunsan Branch (인생감자탕 군산점) myself.

Parking and opening hours at Insaeng Gamjatang Gunsan Branch
The parking lot here is really, really big, so there's no need to worry about parking. Hours are Mon-Fri 07:00 - 04:00 (break time 15:00 - 17:00) and Sat-Sun 07:00 - 04:00 (no break time), so keep that in mind when you visit.

I wanted something hot and spicy in Gunsan, so I went to Insaeng Gamjatang. This time I ordered the medium aged kimchi gamjatang (pork bone stew with aged kimchi) and a Coke Zero. I usually love gamjatang with aged kimchi in it, so I ordered it without any hesitation.
The first thing I liked was the big parking lot. When you go to a restaurant by car, taste matters, but inconvenient parking quietly stresses you out, right? At mealtimes you sometimes circle the neighborhood a few times looking for a spot, but Insaeng Gamjatang has plenty of space, so I parked easily and walked in.

How was the staff service at Insaeng Gamjatang Gunsan Branch?
Once inside, the staff member was genuinely kind to us, which put me in a good mood. It wasn't just basic politeness; the service made the whole meal feel relaxed, and that stuck with me. Food taste matters at a restaurant, but the staff can change your whole impression, and I was happy with that side of things.

First, the basic side dishes.

Taste and portion of the medium aged kimchi gamjatang
The medium aged kimchi gamjatang at Insaeng Gamjatang looked hearty at first glance, and thanks to the aged kimchi the broth was deep and spicy. I like gamjatang itself, but with aged kimchi the broth gets a bit deeper and spicier, so I personally like it even more. Well-fermented kimchi eaten with the broth is great, and it goes nicely with the meat too.
As it simmered, the flavor of the kimchi seeped into the broth and got richer, which I loved. I think gamjatang tastes better after it has boiled a while than when it first arrives. I took a sip of the hot broth first, then ate the kimchi and meat together, and it was a properly filling meal.

Cutting the aged kimchi into manageable pieces and eating it with the meat was an especially good combo. The spicy, rich broth kept pulling me back, and it went well with rice too.

The Coke Zero I ordered alongside, sipped cold between bites, went well with the gamjatang too.

What's at the self-serve bar?
Insaeng Gamjatang Gunsan Branch has a self-serve bar stocked with kkakdugi (radish kimchi), onions, chili peppers and more, so you can take as much as you need. When you eat gamjatang, you keep reaching for side dishes like kkakdugi and onions, and it's convenient to grab what you want without asking the staff.
Kkakdugi is an essential pairing with gamjatang, of course. A sip of hot broth followed by crunchy kkakdugi worked really well, and the onions and chili peppers were nice to add in here and there.

Is Insaeng Gamjatang in Gunsan worth going back to?
I had no inconveniences at Insaeng Gamjatang Gunsan Branch, and above all the aged kimchi gamjatang itself was delicious, so I was satisfied. The aged kimchi made the broth rich yet spicy, and eating the meat and kimchi together was so good that I kept going back for more.

I ordered the medium size and it was plenty hearty, and this is a place I'd think of on days I crave a hot broth dish. Personally, what stayed with me about this visit as much as the food was the big parking lot and the friendly staff. It's easy to visit by car, and the staff are kind, so I enjoyed it from the moment I arrived until I left.

The self-serve bar, where you can easily grab the side dishes you need, was a plus too. If you're in Gunsan craving gamjatang, or you like spicy broth dishes with aged kimchi, the aged kimchi gamjatang at Insaeng Gamjatang is worth trying.
I ordered the medium aged kimchi gamjatang and a Coke Zero and enjoyed them, and everything from parking to the meal was comfortable. If you love aged kimchi, I think you'll enjoy a deeper flavor than regular gamjatang. Insaeng Gamjatang in Gunsan is a place I'll think of again when I want hot broth with plenty of meat and aged kimchi.
