How to find Geumsong Deokmi at the entrance to Haeridan-gil

On the last day of a fun Busan hotel staycation, we stopped by Haeridan-gil, known for its aesthetic cafés, good restaurants and boutique shops. It's really close to Haeundae Station and reminded me a bit of the café street along the Gyeongui Line Forest Park!!

Among them, Geumsong Deokmi, a Haeundae café renovated from an old building, looked clean and aesthetic, so we decided to check it out haha. Deokmi...? Unlike the somewhat old-fashioned name, the sign looked like it would be decorated in an antique-yet-clean, very-now style!

Going up to the second floor, I was like, wait, is this even the café door? There was a wood-tone door with an actual key stuck in it lol, and when it's closed it's totally camouflaged.

If it weren't for the Catch Table reservation sign, I might not have even known it was a café!! I didn't realize it when we first walked in, but by the time we left there was a wait for the café — it's a pretty popular spot on Haeridan-gil, haha.

Grand Budapest Hotel vibes: inside Geumsong Deokmi

The moment I walked in, I thought of the movie The Grand Budapest Hotel... the lounge-style window seating, and the furniture and lighting had that antique-yet-minimal vibe.

What I loved most was the floor-to-ceiling windows — since Geumsong Deokmi's Haeridan-gil branch sits right at the entrance to the street, you can see the old railway tracks and even the Haeundae Station skyline (?) outside the window!!!

What's on the menu at Geumsong Deokmi

When I looked the café up, it said it was a dessert café, and I didn't think much of it~~? But yes, this is definitely a place you come for dessert.

They even had dessert models displayed on one side!! Usually desserts are hidden inside a showcase where you can't see them well, and descriptions can't really be placed inside the case either — but here it was like a dessert exhibition hall, so thoughtful lol.

Summer fruit fresh mango tiramisu!! Since it's summer, it's apparently a HOT item — there was a huge pile of fresh mango on top of the tiramisu, so any mango fanatic would pick this without a second thought!!

Next up is the signature menu, Oreo cheesecake, which apparently has been loved since the café's very first days!!?? Not just a plain cheesecake — the Oreo crumbs and cookie base caught my eye.

This one is the pistachio raspberry cheesecake — the color and amount of cream were stunning, top marks for looks alone~~~~~~~ but it didn't even have fruit on top and was still pretty pricey lol haha.

And we can't skip Geumsong Deokmi's unique dessert menu either (seriously, why is this place such a dessert paradise!! A must when your energy crashes in summer!?). The crème brûlée pot was sold out, but the summer granita was still available!! I ordered the granita and it turned out to be crunchy, sorbet-like shaved ice eaten together with fruit — there were three kinds: lemon granita, mango granita, and Korean melon granita!

Coffee prices are around this range~~~??? The teas also had a lot of unique, blended-sounding names!!

They let us smell the tea directly!! It felt a bit like sampling perfume, which was a nice touch~~

After thoroughly sniffing all the teas and picking out a bunch of desserts, what we actually ordered to drink was just an americano lolllll. Honestly it was so hot that day I wanted to chug a cold iced americano....

Fresh mango tiramisu: pricey, but worth it

The one I was most satisfied with was the fresh mango tiramisu!! It was quite pricey, but it really was worth the money...

The fresh mango was better quality than I expected, and there was a generous amount of mascarpone cream underneath the mango, so I tried the mango with the mascarpone cream first. Below that was a mango compote, almost like mango jam, and a genoise sponge at the very bottom!! Honestly, that combination can't taste bad... and with fruit prices being so high these days, it's rare to get this much fresh mango piled on... total pass!!

Oreo cheesecake and the americano

Next we had the Oreo cheesecake, which was a slightly more ordinary flavor!! Unlike the other cakes, it had a crunchy Oreo cookie base underneath, and I could tell why people love it.

After trying a bit of everything, the americano was exactly what I was craving~~~ I hate sourness in coffee, but Geumsong Deokmi's americano was just right — nutty and easy to drink alongside the desserts!!

Finishing with the mango granita

Did you think it ended there~~~~~~~~~~? We also enjoyed the mango granita to the end. A refreshingly cold sorbet, and after loving the mango in the tiramisu, I figured this place's mango must be good, so I gave it another shot.

Just holding the chilled cup felt satisfying, and eating the cool, sweet mango-based sorbet together with fresh mango~~~ was seriously heavenly!!

The tables are spacious and there are outlets, so it's great for working on a laptop in the AC while enjoying several desserts — by the time we left, the café was completely packed!!! It was a fun dessert trip.
