Daeheung Station brunch for solo shrimp rosé pasta: HEOD Gongdeok

My husband was working a weekend shift, so I came out late for a solo meal at HEOD Mapo.

A rainy weekend at HEOD Gongdeok, beside the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail

HEOD Mapo is a brunch restaurant along the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail near Daeheung Station. It rained on and off all day, but the place was still packed at lunchtime. Being right on the forest trail, it looked especially atmospheric and pretty in the rain :)

I booked a leisurely 1pm reservation, planning to eat first and then wait at a café before my husband got off work! It really felt like everyone's lunch hour shifts about an hour later on weekends since people sleep in.

Two sets of utensils were set out at the bar table, but since I came alone, I only used one.

What's on the HEOD Gongdeok menu, and how much does it cost?

HEOD Mapo takes orders via a QR code at the table. There's a huge range — pastas, risottos, pilafs, even French toast.

HEOD Mapo also has a big drinks menu and various lunch and dinner sets, so there's plenty to pick from depending on your mood.

Late weekend lunch: the mood and interior at HEOD Gongdeok

Lots of guests come in for a late weekend lunch. The Gyeongui Line Forest Trail always seems busy, whether on weekdays or weekends, so it makes sense that more brunch restaurants keep opening here :)

I thought the interior details were pretty here and there.

Green tangerine ade and shrimp rosé pasta, 19,800 won

I ordered a green tangerine ade and the shrimp rosé pasta. I thought there weren't any aprons and was eating carefully, but then I noticed the next table getting one, so I grabbed a disposable apron and put it on too.

The green tangerine ade is the best of the ades here. Nicely tart, and the carbonation wasn't too strong, I think!

The cabbage and radish pickles had a clean flavor, not too salty.

Shrimp rosé pasta. A rosé pasta generously loaded with shrimp, made with their own ragu sauce blended with cream sauce.

Eating solo at the bar table was doable, though there was a couple sitting next to me, which made me think of my husband a little 🤧

It had been a while since I'd ordered rosé pasta — for some reason I was really craving it that day. The noodles were cooked just right and didn't go soft the whole time I was eating, pairing perfectly with the marinated tomatoes and shrimp.

Plenty of big shrimp packed in too. A generous portion for one person. If I'd come with someone, ordering French toast alongside it would have been perfect!

Is HEOD Gongdeok good for eating alone?

Took a mirror selfie too 🤍 and the restroom was inside the restaurant, so it was easy to use.

It's currently called HEOD Gongdeok, but apparently it will soon be renamed HEOD Mapo! A place I'd love to come back to with my husband. I'll be recommending it to my coworkers too.
