Gyodae snack bar: gimbap dipped in nurungji tteokbokki, Halls Gimbap
In short
Halls Gimbap Main Branch (홀스김밥본점) is a Korean snack bar near Exit 1 of Gyodae Station in Seocho, Seoul, serving gimbap (seaweed rice rolls), dakgangjeong (sweet glazed fried chicken) and tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes). After work, the writer and a friend ordered the Halls Dakgangjeong Set (11,000 won) and tteokbokki. They enjoyed the plump chicken, the black rice gimbap and dipping the gimbap into the richly sauced tteokbokki topped with nurungji (crispy scorched rice). Halls Gimbap Main Branch is a good fit if you want a Gyodae Station snack bar with solo bar seating and takeout.

Today is a Gyodae office worker's restaurant recommendation day! A couple of times a week I have dinner with a friend near Gyodae Station after work before heading home ➿ Today we finally went to Halls Gimbap Main Branch (홀스김밥본점), which I'd wanted to try for months because it sells gimbap and dakgangjeong in one place ✨
Where is Halls Gimbap Main Branch, and what are its hours?
Halls Gimbap Main Branch is toward Exit 1 of Gyodae Station, open 08:00-20:00 on weekdays and 08:00-15:00 on Saturday. You'll spot it on the way from Exit 1 to Seocho Samsung Raemian Apartments 🍛

Even the outside feels close to nature, so I had a feeling this place would be made with a lot of care.
Can you eat alone or get takeout at Halls Gimbap Main Branch?
Yes. There's a bar table that's great for solo meals, plus tables for four, and both takeout and dine-in are available. The interior is just so homey, like the snack bar you went to back in school, and it's a comfortable place to eat 🍽️

When you're busy, takeout works well too. Next time I plan to pack something for my parents and eat together after work.

There's also a good variety of cup ramyeon, which is perfect with gimbap ➿ Gimbap and dakgangjeong while smelling someone's ramyeon nearby? Crazy good!!!!!!
Halls Gimbap Main Branch menu and prices
The signature Halls Dakgangjeong Set is ₩11,000 and the Wasabi Spam Dakgangjeong Set is ₩11,500. Single gimbap rolls run ₩6,000-7,300 and single tteokbokki ₩7,500-10,000.

- Halls Dakgangjeong Set ₩11,000
- Wasabi Spam Dakgangjeong Set ₩11,500
- Single gimbap ₩6,000-7,300
- Single tteokbokki ₩7,500-10,000
There are lots of gimbap types, and the tteokbokki goes from the basic one all the way to a cabbage protein version, so it's full of tasty stuff ✨
What comes in the Halls Dakgangjeong Set?
The Halls Dakgangjeong Set (₩11,000) lets you have dakgangjeong and gimbap in one go, and it's what we ordered this time ✨

I had a dakgangjeong and gimbap combo a year or two ago and loved it so much that I wanted it again!!! I'd wondered whether anywhere around Gyodae Station sold it, and the Halls Dakgangjeong Set suits me perfectly. Lately I've ordered lots of lunch boxes with this combo, so it's great for group orders too.

Plump, juicy dakgangjeong
See how plump the dakgangjeong is ⁉️ I love it so much that I buy frozen dakgangjeong and reheat it at home every day after work, and this one really suited my taste.

Gimbap rolled with black rice
Ta-da! The gimbap here isn't made with plain rice but black rice! I really love gimbap, and every black rice gimbap place I've tried has been 100% delicious. From the very first bite, there's more filling than rice, exactly the satisfying texture we all like 🍚
What does the tteokbokki at Halls Gimbap taste like?
The tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) has a deep-colored sauce, chewy rice cakes, and comes topped with an egg and nurungji (crispy scorched rice). I ordered it because I wanted the full snack bar experience, and the sauce already looks so rich, doesn't it 🍡 Dipping the nurungji in the tteokbokki sauce is honey-sweet heaven.

Take a chewy rice cake and a boiled egg, drag them through the sauce, and take a bite. It's pure Gyodae happiness. It would be perfect for a workday lunch too, and I'm happy it's available for takeout 🍡
Dipping gimbap into the nurungji tteokbokki sauce
You know tteokbokki and gimbap is a perfect combo ⁉️ Halls gives plenty of sauce, so dunking your gimbap in it is pure happiness!!!!
I usually like a sauce that's moderately spicy and rich, and the Halls tteokbokki had already passed the test the moment I saw its deep color. Then dipping the gimbap in it too? Honey-sweet heaven.
Verdict: Halls Gimbap for an after-work dinner near Gyodae Station
Let's all finish with some dakgangjeong, ahhh~~~~! Plump chicken, gimbap that's even better than your mom's filling-packed rolls, and tteokbokki too 🍡 Halls Gimbap Main Branch is a snack bar near Gyodae Station where everything is good, and takeout is available ✨
