Seocho udon shop with free parking: tori-ten udon set at Kosi Gyodae

In short

Kosi Gyodae Branch is a Sanuki-style udon and tonkatsu restaurant near Gyodae Station Exit 14 in Seocho, Seoul. A longtime regular of the Isu branch came to Kosi Gyodae Branch for dinner with a friend and ordered the tori-ten udon (chicken tempura udon) assorted set with tonkatsu and shrimp tempura, and was very happy with the springy noodles and crisp fried sides. With free parking for 2 cars in front, Kosi Gyodae Branch is an easy lunch recommendation for Seocho office workers.

What is Kosi Gyodae Branch like?

Kosi Gyodae Branch (코시 교대점) is a tonkatsu and udon restaurant near Gyodae Station in Seocho that serves udon the traditional Japanese Sanuki way. The deep broth and chewy noodles are the draw, so I'd recommend it as a lunch spot for Seocho office workers.

Today is a lunch pick for Seocho office workers ➿ Okay, I actually went for dinner with a friend, but I'm recommending it for lunch 🍽️ I loved this tonkatsu and udon place at Isu Station too, and when it opened a branch near Gyodae Station I went straight over. That's how much I like Kosi. The traditional Japanese Sanuki style means a deep broth and chewy noodles that I really love 🍝

Eating udon and tonkatsu together with a set at Kosi Gyodae Branch

At Kosi Gyodae Branch, a set menu lets you eat udon and tonkatsu in one go. I chose the tori-ten udon assorted set, and my friend picked tonkatsu and shrimp tempura.

What do you think of this hearty combo? ✨ The secret to getting both noodles and tonkatsu is the set menu! Thanks to it you can try a bit of everything, and even if you come alone, the set lets you enjoy a variety, which is a big plus ✨

What comes in the tori-ten udon assorted set?

Kosi's tori-ten udon comes with fried chicken, and if you order the assorted set you also get yubu chobap (sweet fried tofu pouches filled with rice) and tonkatsu. I'm someone who always loves karaage (Japanese fried chicken), so I'm having my udon with chicken too. Perfect combo, right? 🍽️

Fried chicken served with tori-ten udon

Wow, tori-ten is totally my style! There are lots of fried options, but the fried chicken in tori-ten is hearty, tasty and no one dislikes it. My waistline goes up, but who cares if it's delicious! Oddly, I like chicken more than pork, so with tori-ten udon it feels like I get everything from udon to chicken, which is so good 🍝

As you'd expect from a place a Seocho office worker recommends, I left really satisfied. The noodles were chewy, and, exaggerating a little, I felt like I'd gone to Japan!!! You have to try the chewy noodles to know 🍝

The yubu chobap that comes with Kosi's udon set is great too! It's weirdly addictive: you eat warm udon, then take a bite of yubu chobap, and it seems so simple, so why is it this delicious?

Crispy tonkatsu at Kosi Gyodae Branch

How are the tonkatsu and shrimp tempura at Kosi Gyodae Branch?

The tonkatsu at Kosi Gyodae Branch has a crisp coating and is packed with meat inside. The shrimp tempura was crisp too, with plump, springy shrimp.

Everyone, here it is, my favorite tonkatsu! You've probably heard that men's favorite dishes are tonkatsu and jeyuk bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork), and I really love both. The tonkatsu coating is crisp and it's full of meat inside, so you know it's good from the first bite 🔥 It tastes just like a proper tonkatsu place should. It's a lunch I want to eat again.

Ta-da, and crispy shrimp tempura too! The oil already looked so clean that I fell for it at first sight 🦐🍤 One bite and the shrimp was so springy that I thoroughly enjoyed this Seocho favorite! It's so popular that even Seocho office workers line up, which makes it today's lunch pick 🔥
