Today I visited a place in Namyangju that's full of that outdoor-BBQ-tent vibe! Since it was open as usual even during Chuseok and the holiday, I could visit without any hassle — here's my revisit report at 2002 Witch's Arpeggio (2002 마녀의 아르페지오) with my baby haha😆
Open on Chuseok in Namyangju: is there parking at 2002 Witch's Arpeggio?
Parking at 2002 Witch's Arpeggio was easy! There was plenty of parking space both in front of the restaurant and on the lot across the street, so it looked great for family gatherings too😇
This is the inside of 2002 Witch's Arpeggio. Even though I visited during early lunchtime, I was surprised at how many customers were already there! The place opens at 11am, but this outdoor BBQ spot in Namyangju was so popular that people were already waiting before that😘 There's also a valley right outside, so it seemed like a great spot to come during summer vacation too.
Creekside outdoor seats at 2002 Witch's Arpeggio fill up by noon
This is the spacious interior of 2002 Witch's Arpeggio. There was outdoor tent seating not just near the entrance but also further inside, and by noon all the outdoor seats were completely full🙊 If you're heading out to look for this outdoor BBQ spot in Namyangju, keep in mind you'll need to hurry.
What we ordered: cheese tomato-jang pork belly, potato pancake and the kids' set
This is the menu board at 2002 Witch's Arpeggio. Besides their signature tomato-jang pork belly, they now also have tomato-jang kalguksu (noodle soup)! Since I came with my baby, I ordered the signature cheese tomato-jang pork belly (2 servings), the crispy-outside-soft-inside potato pancake, and the rice cake patty kids' set.
Self-serve side bar and ordering japchae at the kiosk
After ordering, I took a look around 2002 Witch's Arpeggio. The basic banchan (side dishes) could be freely refilled from the self-serve bar😇 Main-level sides like japchae (glass noodle stir-fry) could be ordered separately via kiosk, so keep that in mind⭐️
Right after ordering, the side dishes and tomato-jang pork belly came out. The japchae showed up on a surprisingly big plate — the taste put even hanjeongsik (Korean set-course meal) restaurants to shame💟 We actually finished it before the pork belly even finished grilling, and when the staff noticed, they tried to give us a refill, but we were too full to accept haha😛
The potato pancake at 2002 Witch's Arpeggio: as crisp as a cracker
Next up is a dish I really want to recommend: the crispy-outside-soft-inside potato pancake🩷 There's actually a mini size meant for couples, and that's what I ordered, but there must have been a mix-up because they just gave me the full-size one anyway!!! They kindly let me know leftovers could be packed to go, so lucky me, I got to take home the rest🥳 It was crispy almost like a cookie, and stayed crispy even after it cooled — perfect as a beer snack.
The staff kept grilling the tomato-jang pork belly for us, and we even got to watch a flashy fire show😉 During the fire show a delicious smoky aroma filled the air, and at the end they piled on cheese and smoked it thoroughly.
Eating with a baby? The tteokgalbi kids' set
If you're visiting with a baby, I highly recommend this addictive rice cake patty (tteokgalbi) kids' set🌟 It was great to have a separate kids' menu, and it came with rice, gim (seaweed), and rice cake patty — a combination kids love👻👻
How does the finished cheese tomato-jang pork belly taste?
Here's the finished cheese tomato-jang pork belly🤤🤤 I loved how generously they piled on the cheese — also note that both the regular and cheese tomato-jang pork belly can be ordered by single serving😝
Interestingly, it wasn't a gochujang (red pepper paste) pork belly, yet it still had a spicy kick, along with that distinct savory umami from the tomato — I kept eating happily the whole time🫶 The side dishes were so varied that every bite tasted new, and the tomato kimchi and perilla-leaf oil pickle you can only get here were especially delicious! Staying open without a break even on Chuseok made it perfect for a family gathering. If you're looking for an outdoor BBQ spot in Namyangju, I'd recommend trying the tomato-jang pork belly right next to the valley💯💯
