Gyesan Station bakery date: salt bread and two ciabattas, Dalgeuraem

In short

Dalgeuraem (달그램) is a new bakery café in an alley near Exit 3 of Gyesan Station in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon, where a professional pâtissier makes salt bread, cakes and desserts. On a date with her husband, the writer tried plain salt bread, chili salt bread, two kinds of ciabatta, mango yogurt cake and an americano, and received a cold brew sample bottle and a cookie as an opening gift. If you order only one thing at Dalgeuraem, make it the chili salt bread with ranch sauce.

Cakes and whole cakes

The cakes include tiramisu, Basque cheesecake, matcha KitKat cake, sweet pumpkin cream cheese cake, mango yogurt cake, mango fresh cream cake, pink grapefruit cake and Jeju Gujwa carrot cake, all made with fresh seasonal ingredients, so they're perfect for dessert time with coffee.

Dalgeuraem coffee and signature latte menu

Dalgeuraem drink menu: is it okay if you don't drink coffee?

The coffee menu has americano, café latte and cold brew, and you can switch to decaf or oat milk. There are also signature drinks like vanilla bean cream latte, peanut cream latte and black sesame cream latte.

The non-coffee side is wider than you'd expect too: Jeju matcha latte, fresh-squeezed juice, watermelon juice, ades and tea, so people who can't drink coffee have plenty of choice 👏👏

✔️ Dalgeuraem accepts the high oil price relief support fund.

Toasted bread and coffee brought to the table at Dalgeuraem

The moment it hit the table, the sweet smell of butter filled the air. Happy bread lovers, both of us! At Dalgeuraem the staff toast your bread and coffee order so it's warm and ready to eat, then bring it to your seat 👍

How do Dalgeuraem's salt bread and ciabatta taste?

The basic salt bread has a proper butter cave, good! It's chewy yet fluffy and packed with butter, so the nutty, salty flavor really comes through. A new salt bread spot I fully approve of.

The ciabattas have a nice open crumb, plain and easy on the stomach, so they were light and tasty, and a perfect match for the americano with its strong coffee aroma ☕️

Dalgeuraem chili salt bread topped with chili sauce
Stretchy mozzarella inside the chili salt bread

Top pick at Dalgeuraem: chili salt bread dipped in ranch sauce

The chili salt bread is topped with spicy chili sauce and stuffed with plenty of mozzarella, so the cheese stretches and stretches. Dip it in the fresh, tangy-salty ranch sauce and it is pure heaven 😍

My husband and I said how good it was so many times while eating, I lost count 😆 If I had to pick just one recommendation at this Gyesan-dong bakery café, it would definitely be the chili salt bread 👍

Dalgeuraem mango yogurt cake piled with mango

Is Dalgeuraem's mango yogurt cake too rich?

The mango yogurt cake is topped with plenty of well-ripened, sweet and soft mango. But mango aside, the fluffy, tender sponge is a work of art. It's soft and moist and so good even on its own.

The cream has a yogurt base, so it isn't heavy at all and adds a fresh tang that blends perfectly with the sweet mango and the sponge 👍

They say a professional pâtissier makes everything by hand every morning with gourmet butter and carefully chosen ingredients. I was happy with the breads, the desserts and the coffee! The staff were really friendly too, and it was a fun date in a space with lots of charm 😍
