Gyesan-dong bakery café with ₩6,000 cream lattes: Dalgeuraem

I was looking for a café in Gyesan-dong with a wide variety of bread and a pretty atmosphere, and that's how I found Dalgeuraem. There are tons of places selling salt bread these days, but Dalgeuraem had way more than just the basic version — lots of different bread made with various ingredients, so it was actually fun to pick and choose ❣️ Apparently professional pastry chefs bake all the bread and cakes in-house every morning using gourmet butter and carefully selected ingredients!!

The bread I tried was genuinely satisfying, so let me introduce it for anyone looking for a salt bread spot in Gyesan-dong or a bakery café near Gyesan Station :)

The glass-fronted exterior on a Gyesan-dong alley

Walking through the alley in Gyesan-dong, Dalgeuraem comes into view. The whole front of the building is floor-to-ceiling glass, so you can catch a glimpse of the warm interior even from outside — overall it has a small, cozy neighborhood bakery vibe 💗

Even the area around the entrance was decorated too nicely to just walk past. Small figurines, wooden signs, and potted plants gave it a bit of a small European alley bakery feel. Nothing felt overdone — the little props all blend in naturally, which is exactly the mood anyone looking for a Gyesan-dong aesthetic café would like!

Inside Dalgeuraem: seats that work for solo visits

One side of the entrance was full of potted plants, baskets, and little bread-shop props. Even this small corner was decorated with care, and it really suited Dalgeuraem's overall mood.

With sunlight streaming in through the windows, the space felt so much warmer ✨ The tables weren't packed too close together either, which makes it perfect for coming alone for a relaxed cup of coffee!!! It leans more toward a calm, quiet neighborhood café than a flashy, oversized one.

Besides the bread, the showcase also had slice cakes ready to go. A place where you can enjoy bread + cake + coffee all at once! I'd love to try one of the cakes next time haha.

What is in the display case, from salt bread to croissants?

The first thing that catches your eye walking into Dalgeuraem is the long bakery display case. From easy, casual options like salt bread to sweeter desserts to croissant-style pastries, one whole side of the case is packed full, so it's genuinely fun to check out each item one by one.

It wasn't just plain bread — there were lots of items with different toppings and fillings combined, so it seemed easy to pick according to your taste.

What really caught my eye at Dalgeuraem was, of course, the range of salt bread. The bread itself is baked to a delicious-looking golden color, and there are versions with all sorts of ingredients added on top, so it feels quite different from the basic salt bread you'd usually imagine! The outside is baked golden brown and there's filling inside, so even just one felt pretty filling.

The drinks came in a wide variety too. Dalgeuraem's signature menu includes vanilla bean cream latte / peanut cream latte / black sesame cream latte, each priced at ₩6,000. Beyond coffee, there's also Jeju matcha latte, Valrhona chocolate latte, fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice, fresh-squeezed orange juice, ade, and various teas, so there's plenty for people who can't drink coffee too. The menu also listed options for an extra shot, switching to decaf, or switching to oat milk, so you could order exactly to your taste!

That day I ordered a few drinks and a few types of bread together. The warm wood table matched so well with the look of the bread that the photos turned out really pretty 👍

I like picking a savory kind and a sweet kind together rather than just eating one type of bread, and Dalgeuraem had enough variety that this was easy to do.

If you like bread and happen to be in Gyesan-dong, Dalgeuraem 💗 is worth a visit at least once. You get to see a wide variety of bread baked fresh in-store every morning, and I especially liked that there were so many options, from basic bakery items to many different styles of salt bread. The vintage yet warm interior is pretty too, so instead of just getting bread to go, I'd recommend sitting down and enjoying it slowly with coffee in the store :)
