Yuok, a Songjeong restaurant specializing in eel rice bowls
Yuok is an eel rice bowl (unaju) restaurant at 47 Songjeonggangbyeon-ro, 1st floor, Haeundae-gu, Busan, South Korea. I went back for an evening visit on August 14, 2026.
I kept thinking about the flavor of the eel bowl and the friendly service from last time, so I decided without hesitation to revisit this Songjeong, Busan favorite, Japanese restaurant Yuok 🍱
Parking at Yuok and first impressions outside
Yuok has its own well-organized building parking lot, so parking was easy and I walked right in 🚘
The moment I arrived, the gorgeous exterior caught my eye right away! The handsome tiled roof, the quiet wooden gate, the white gravel garden path, and the pretty lighting all come together to make it feel like a refined, famous Japanese ryokan 🏯

We made a reservation ahead of time to avoid the peak-hour wait and arrived right at dinner time — when we left after our meal, there was already a long waiting line at the door, and I thought, 'a popular spot really is different,' glad we'd come early ✨

Inside Yuok: seating and small thoughtful touches
The staff greeted us so warmly that it felt welcoming from the very first impression 💛 Stepping through the door, you're met with a warm wood-toned atmosphere and a clean, sophisticated interior! The tables are spaced generously, making it easy to talk, and the view through the windows makes it perfect for an emotional date ☺️
One thing that especially touched me about Yuok's attention to detail — one side of the restaurant has a neat lineup of phone chargers by type, plus after-meal candy, dental floss, fabric deodorizer, and hand sanitizer, all tidily set out. The care and cleanliness shown toward guests really stood out 🌿 We also experienced the same thoughtful, attentive service from the staff throughout the meal ☺️
What's on the menu at Yuok?
Besides the eel rice bowl (unaju), Yuok has a solid lineup of refined Japanese set meals including tori-don, saba ochazuke, and mazesoba. Each table has a cute illustrated 'how to eat this deliciously' guide, so even first-time visitors can enjoy it comfortably!

How does the 28,500-won jumbo unaju set taste?
This time we ordered the jumbo unaju set (eel rice bowl), ₩28,500, and the tori-don set, ₩18,000.

🍱 Jumbo unaju set The moment we lifted the lid, my eyes went wide at the sight of the huge, glossy eel! Under the golden-grilled eel is a bowl packed with rice soaked in soft egg and a sweet-savory special tare sauce.
Salad, fried tofu, miso soup, and even broth for ochazuke — the whole set is neat and complete!

The 3-step eating order on Yuok's table card
I tried eating in the order shown on the guide card!

1. Taste it plain first: I took a small bite of just the eel and rice, and it melted in my mouth with not a single bone in sight! The rice was seasoned just right, and I was impressed from the very first bite.
2. Add the toppings: with the wasabi, chopped scallion, and seaweed flakes provided, it cut through the richness completely and filled my mouth with a clean, fragrant aroma.

3. Finish with ochazuke: I scooped rice and eel into a small dish and poured the warm ochazuke broth over it — the deep, savory flavor warmed me from the inside, and this combination was easily the best part 🍵

What is the 18,000-won tori-don set like?
🍗 Tori-don set A chicken rice bowl piled so high with golden, chewy-grilled chicken that you can barely see the rice!

The special sauce, with a hint of smoky char, had soaked all the way into the chicken, and it got more savory and satisfying with every bite. Even my boyfriend cleaned his bowl, saying, 'How is this chicken so juicy with zero gamey smell?' 😋

Yuok tip: ask the staff for kimchi
💡 A tip and pairing suggestion of my own! If you ask staff during your meal, they'll bring you a nice side of kimchi — the sweetness of the tare sauce and the spicy crunch of the kimchi are a fantastic match, so if you visit, definitely ask for kimchi to pair with your meal!
Rating and would I go back to Yuok?
⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ (4.9 / 5.0)
🔁 Would visit again ✔
🍽 Final thought: still delivering the same deep impression as before, with excellent food and heartfelt service — this is Yuok, a Japanese restaurant favorite in Songjeong, Busan 🥹 During evening peak hours there's a waiting line, so I strongly recommend booking ahead on Naver. Whether it's a special date with your partner, a treat for your parents, or just a day you're craving a refined set meal, I'm confident you'll be 200% satisfied 💯
