Sea-view ramen restaurant in Haeundae: cappuccino tantanmen at Taiga

In short

Taiga Tempura & Matsudo is a Japanese ramen and tempura restaurant in Mipo, Haeundae, Busan, with window and terrace seats that look out over the Haeundae sea. On a second visit, the writer ordered the spicy miso ramen and a foam-topped cappuccino tantanmen, and both came with rice that was good for soaking in the broth. Taiga Tempura & Matsudo is worth a stop if you want rich ramen with a sea view in Haeundae.

Where to eat ramen with a sea view in Haeundae: Taiga Tempura & Matsudo

Taiga Tempura & Matsudo is a Japanese ramen and tempura restaurant in Mipo, Haeundae, where you can eat while looking at the sea. The hours given in the original are Mon–Sun 11:00–20:00, with a break time of 15:30–17:00.

Today I'd like to share my visit for the spicy miso ramen at Taiga Tempura & Matsudo, an ocean-view spot in Haeundae. I'd gone to Haeundae and wanted to eat somewhere with a view of the sea, and it stuck with me because I loved the food and the atmosphere alike. This is already my second visit!

Once I stepped inside Taiga Tempura & Matsudo, Haeundae beach spread out wide in front of me, a proper ocean-view setting. It had the cozy feel of a Japanese ramen shop, and the tables were spaced comfortably so I could eat in peace. Best of all were the window seats and the outdoor terrace seats.

The ocean view is really why Taiga Tempura & Matsudo stayed with me. Usually with a good restaurant you only remember the food, but here I remembered the sea scenery too. Eating a bowl of hot ramen while looking out at Haeundae beach made me feel like I was properly on a trip.

On a sunny day the blue sea opens up refreshingly, and in the evening you can enjoy an atmospheric view too, so it seemed like a great date spot. Even eating alone, you wouldn't be bored at all because the view is that good! The ocean view is the real deal!

Sitting by the window, you get the whole of Haeundae beach at a glance, and the phrase "ocean-view gem" just comes out on its own. You can watch the waves and the sea while you eat, which gave me that real travel feeling. It's a space that puts you in a good mood even before the food arrives, thanks to the Haeundae scenery outside the window.

What we ordered: spicy miso ramen and cappuccino tantanmen

This visit I ordered the spicy miso ramen and the cappuccino tantanmen (sesame-based spicy noodle soup). They had a range of Japanese ramen, from tonkotsu ramen to spicy ramen and tantanmen, so you can choose to your taste. I went with the spicy miso ramen and the cappuccino tantanmen, but just look at that view, everyone. It's a genuine Haeundae ocean view and I loved it.

How spicy is the spicy miso ramen?

The spicy miso ramen isn't just aggressively hot; it has a deep, rich savory flavor along with the spice. The broth had a dark color that looked spicy, but when I actually ate it, it was different.

The first spoonful brings the nutty, rich flavor of miso, then a warming spiciness builds up, and it's addictive, so you keep going back for more broth. It tasted much deeper than an ordinary spicy ramen, and the rich savoriness of the pork-bone broth blends with the nuttiness of the miso, so the broth is really well done. Thumbs up.

Noodles and chashu in the spicy miso ramen

The noodles in the spicy miso ramen were chewy and springy, and they soaked up plenty of the spicy broth, so every bite was full of flavor. The chashu (braised pork slices) was generous too, cooked tender so it melted in my mouth, and it was even better with the broth. And they gave rice as well, so mixing the rice into the soup is great too.

What is the cappuccino tantanmen?

The cappuccino tantanmen is a tantanmen with creamy white foam piled on top of the ramen, reminiscent of a cappuccino. I was amazed by the look of it the moment it arrived. Seeing a dish I'd only known from photos in real life made it feel even more special.

And the cappuccino tantanmen came with rice too! When I ordered the spicy ramen I worried it might be salty, so I asked for extra broth, and they kindly brought extra broth. I also had the kimchi side dish.

With the cappuccino tantanmen, the deep savoriness of the rich pork-bone broth came first, followed by a nutty sesame flavor that filled my mouth. The signature tantanmen spiciness was added in just the right amount, so it wasn't greasy and was clean to eat. It isn't only spicy; the nuttiness and savoriness are well balanced, and you keep spooning up the broth! I think people who like mala would enjoy it too. It felt like eating mala at level zero?!

Mix the rice into the broth and you instantly have a delicious gukbap (rice soup). The broth is good enough that I finished the rice and all of it!

Verdict: Taiga Tempura & Matsudo as an ocean-view ramen spot in Haeundae

If you're looking for something special in the way of ramen in Haeundae, Taiga Tempura & Matsudo is well worth a visit. The cappuccino tantanmen had not only a unique look but a rich, nutty flavor, and the soft texture from the plentiful foam was impressive too.

The tempura I had alongside at Taiga Tempura & Matsudo had a wonderfully crisp texture and went well with the ramen. Above all, it's a full ocean view where you can see Haeundae beach at a glance! If you want to enjoy a tasty meal with a great view, I recommend stopping by when you visit Haeundae.
