A spacious, tidy milmyeon spot near Sinpyeong Station

It’s 440 m from Exit 9 of Sinpyeong Station.

The restaurant was quite spacious. It had a clean, wood-toned interior and sofa seating, so it was comfortable to use. It didn’t feel at all awkward to eat alone, and it seemed like lots of nearby office workers stop by at lunchtime.

Since it’ll be getting cold soon, this would also be a nice place to come for kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) or yukgaejang. The spicy milmyeon looks like a good pick for anyone wanting something cool and spicy after a night out. It seems like it would have a charm quite different from the regular milmyeon.

Made-to-order noodles and a self-service corner

Sinpyeong Busan Milmyeon makes its own noodles to order, with no chemical additives whatsoever.

At the self-service corner, you can help yourself to water, extra side dishes and broth.

Once you’re seated, make sure to pick up some warm broth and radish kimchi.

Why is the warm broth at milmyeon places so delicious? Haha. It was warm and savory, perfect for settling my stomach before the cool noodles.

Adding vinegar and mustard to icy cold milmyeon

This is refreshing cold milmyeon (wheat noodles) topped with a thin layer of ice. Just looking at it feels cooling, right? I think I’ll be craving it again in the height of summer.

First, the egg~

Each table has vinegar and mustard, so you can season it to your liking. It was already well seasoned on its own, but I thought it tasted even better with vinegar and mustard added.

Maybe because the noodles are made right when you order, they were wonderfully chewy. They weren’t soft or mushy and were cooked just right. The broth was sweet and tangy, so I kept spooning it up. As expected, I think I prefer cold milmyeon to bibim milmyeon.

When you’re eating milmyeon alone, you want dumplings too, but a whole plate is a lot, isn’t it? Sinpyeong Busan Milmyeon sells just two, which made them great to have on the side. Eating only milmyeon would be such a shame~

The dumplings were generously filled, so they were really satisfying. Next time, I need to try the bibim milmyeon-and-dumpling combination.

Because it hasn’t been open long, the restroom was clean too. There are separate restrooms for men and women. Sinpyeong Busan Milmyeon is across from Hanam Middle School.
