Haeundae Chinese restaurant, just two dishes for two: Bueokgan
In short
Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch (부엌간 차이니즈 해운대점) is a Chinese restaurant on the first floor of a building on Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae, Busan. It is run alongside the European restaurant Bueokgan Haeundae Branch on the second floor, and good memories of that restaurant brought the writer downstairs, where two diners skipped rice and noodles and ordered just jalapeño cream shrimp and black vinegar pork loin tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork). The verdict: the jalapeños cut the richness of the cream shrimp and the tangy tangsuyuk sauce made alternating bites easy, so the pairing stayed delicious to the last bite.

What is Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch like?
Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch (부엌간 차이니즈 해운대점) is a Chinese restaurant on the first floor of the Bueokgan building on Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae. I'd once been to Bueokgan Haeundae, the European restaurant on the second floor of the same building 🤍 The food was so good and the staff were so kind that it stayed in my memory as a lovely visit! I knew there was a Chinese restaurant downstairs and had been thinking I really had to try it. So this time I went to Bueokgan Chinese on the first floor of the same building!

Is parking easy at Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch?
There's a parking lot on B1 of the Bueokgan Haeundae building, so it's really convenient if you drive! Bueokgan uses the whole building (B1 to 2F) as a restaurant! I noticed it last time too, but there were so many families~! Easy parking seems like a big plus for Bueokgan Haeundae.

What's the atmosphere at Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch?
You go in through a corridor just inside the entrance, and the soft lighting gives the place a feel like a scene from a Chinese movie. Okay, time to go in! The writing on the walls, the shape of the ceiling and the soft lighting feel like something out of a Chinese film?! Like you should say "Ni hao!" haha Somehow I was in a good mood from the very start 🤍

Big, moody lights glow softly over everything! I think I saw the same lights when I visited Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch. It looks even cooler at night...! So classic and elegant!! It's a really nice mood for a quiet meal with family or a partner~! The music isn't too loud, but you can't hear the chatter around you either, so it's just right for talking.

Just two dishes for two people: what did we order?
We ordered at a kiosk, and the two of us skipped rice and noodles and ordered only two dishes: jalapeño cream shrimp and black vinegar sirloin tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork). Hmm, I stared at the menu for ages! In the end we ordered just two dishes.
- Jalapeño cream shrimp
- Black vinegar sirloin tangsuyuk

The look of them already made me so happy, and I figured they'd be delicious...! But going by the names, both sound like heavy dishes, so I wondered a little: can we finish all this...? There were only two of us..?! I ordered with a bit of hesitation, but it turned out to be a golden balance, pure instinct?! hahaha Let's keep going.

Is the jalapeño cream shrimp too rich?
The jalapeños scattered throughout cut the richness of the cream, so I never got tired of it. Plump shrimp coated in cream sauce arrived on a plate of energetically torn lettuce.. and the kicker here is the jalapeño! If you only eat cream shrimp, even when it's delicious it can get a little heavy, but the generous jalapeños pop up at just the right moments like "I'm here!" and neutralize the richness..!

They only used really big, plump shrimp...! Every bite was like wow! You know the feeling 😘

What does the black vinegar sirloin tangsuyuk sauce taste like?
The black vinegar sirloin tangsuyuk had a tangy sauce with added savory depth, so it was well balanced, and it's topped with plenty of onion. It came out glossy and shiny... It looks like it can't possibly be bad, but let me explain first, let's go! The sauce is tangy, exactly the tangsuyuk sauce we all imagine! But it's not just sour: the savory depth balances the tang so nicely that the whole thing felt well balanced.

The pork inside was as substantial as the shrimp! This is how tangsuyuk should be..!!
Can you order jalapeño cream shrimp and black vinegar tangsuyuk together?
Jalapeño cream shrimp and black vinegar sirloin tangsuyuk make a great pair to eat in turns. The cream shrimp has the jalapeños and the tangsuyuk has its tangy sauce, so one bite of cream shrimp, one bite of tangsuyuk, switching back and forth endlessly is totally doable~~~ Personally I was really glad we ordered both!
I went to Bueokgan Chinese because of my good memories of Bueokgan Haeundae upstairs, and once again it was a huge success 🤍 If you're looking for a good-quality Chinese restaurant with a nice atmosphere in Haeundae? I recommend Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch❕
