Why I Went to Hodu Kkakki Brothers near Yangjae Station
Hodu Kkakki Brothers (호두까끼형제) is a handmade walnut pie shop near Yangjae Station, not far from the Seoul Express Bus Terminal (Gyeongbu line). I voted in the local elections in the morning, then took a bus up to Seoul. I had an exam and wanted to see my parents too, and since it had been a while, I didn't want to show up empty-handed. I searched for gift shops near the terminal and found Hodu Kkakki Brothers in Yangjae.
Hodu Kkakki Brothers Hours and Parking

Getting to Hodu Kkakki Brothers from Yangjae Station, and the Exterior
Come out of Exit 4 of Yangjae Station on Line 3 and walk about 2–3 minutes, and you're there.

From the entrance on, it had a fairytale feel that reminded me of "The Nutcracker."

Inside Hodu Kkakki Brothers and the Menu
As soon as I stepped inside, I could faintly smell toasty walnuts.

Besides walnut pies, they also sell drinks, so it looked like a nice place to stop in on a hot day like these.

You get a discount if you buy a mix set, but I wanted to taste every kind, so I bought one of everything except the pecan pie. The matcha cream walnut pie looked the tastiest, so I ordered two of those. Haha.

The Dubai crispy pie was a limited item, but sadly it wasn't available when I went. T_T I'll definitely try it next time~

Hodu Kkakki Brothers in Yangjae also accepts Zero Pay and the high-oil-price relief subsidy, so that's worth knowing if you're planning a visit.

I got my pies in under 5 minutes after ordering. I was so eager to try them that I hurried home.

Storage Time and Ingredients of Hodu Kkakki Brothers' Handmade Pies
The pies from Hodu Kkakki Brothers keep for up to 7 days in the fridge and 30 days in the freezer, they say.

They say they use honey, oligosaccharide syrup and maple syrup instead of refined sugar, and make the handmade pies with organic flour and domestic rice flour. Since this was a gift for my parents, I wanted something easy to enjoy rather than a dessert that's too sweet or harsh. Hearing that they take care with the ingredients made me think it would work well as a gift, so I went.

The Pies I Bought at Hodu Kkakki Brothers, and the Price
I paid ₩35,900 in total for the handmade pies. They're so colorful and pretty, right? 😊 With this many flavors to enjoy, the price wasn't bad at all. Haha.

Overall the pies were packed with nuts and topped with plenty of cream, so they looked delicious just sitting there.
Matcha & Milk Cream Walnut Pie
The cream on the matcha and milk cream walnut pie isn't strongly sweet, just gently sweet, so it never felt heavy the whole way through. The cream itself was soft and fluffy. Eaten together with the walnut pie underneath, the nutty and sweet flavors blended really well. Personally, out of all the kinds, the milk cream walnut pie suited my taste best. 😊

Kabocha Pie
The kabocha (Korean sweet pumpkin) pie at Hodu Kkakki Brothers was exactly what the name says: pure kabocha. 🎃 It felt like real kabocha mashed right in! From the first bite, the sweet, nutty flavor of kabocha comes through strongly. Mom said it was delicious the moment she tried it, and that made me glad I'd bought it. 😊

Signature Walnut Pie & Macadamia Cheese Pie
Do I even need to talk about the signature walnut pie? 🥰 True to its name, it's loaded with nutty walnuts, so it's satisfying to chew, and the sweetness isn't overdone, so anyone can enjoy it. The macadamia cheese pie has a subtle cheese flavor with the richness of macadamia on top, and the texture was satisfying too.

Cream Cheese Walnut Pie & Hazelnut Cacao Pie
The cream cheese walnut pie felt much more like a dessert than a regular walnut pie. With thick, dense cream cheese added to the walnut pie, smooth cream cheese wraps your mouth with every bite, so the flavor feels richer. 😋
The hazelnut cacao pie was appealing for its deep, bittersweet cacao flavor. The nutty aroma of hazelnut rises gently and makes the depth of the cacao stand out even more. I think it would go well with a sweet latte or coffee.

Are Hodu Kkakki Brothers' Handmade Pies a Good Gift for Parents?
The handmade pies at Hodu Kkakki Brothers let the natural flavor of the ingredients come through, and they're made with healthy ingredients, so I was satisfied the whole time I ate them. They were great to share with my parents and a good dessert for gifting too. If you ever find yourself in Yangjae, give Hodu Kkakki Brothers a visit~
