What is Selected Nicks, the big café near Gangnam Station, like?

Selected Nicks (셀렉티드닉스) is a large café at 37 Teheran-ro 4-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and it even has a rooftop. It was a lovely weekend, and after eating near Gangnam Station we just didn't want to head home yet, haha. While looking for a place nearby to rest for a bit, we found Selected Nicks.

That day we ordered good coffee and sweet tiramisu and really enjoyed it, haha. Here's the full story of the coffee and tiramisu I tried at Selected Nicks, a nice spot to rest after running errands around Gangnam Station.

How to get to Selected Nicks

Selected Nicks is a 2-minute walk from Gangnam Station Exit 4.

The path leading to the entrance is decorated with a pretty space like this, so it looked like a nice place to order and sit with your coffee.

Tiramisu varieties and set menus on the 1st floor of Selected Nicks

Inside the 1st floor, there was a wide range of desserts.

Tasty-looking desserts were lined up one by one in the showcase, so I took my time browsing to decide what to pick.

The tiramisu selection was really varied, lol. There was banana tiramisu, choco banana tiramisu, pistachio tiramisu, strawberry tiramisu and more. I also spotted the popular Dubai chewy tiramisu, haha. Besides the familiar classic tiramisu, there are ones made with all kinds of ingredients, so you can pick by your own taste.

There were plenty of set menus too, which made ordering easy. If you order a drink with tiramisu or dessert as a set, you get a discount, so a set looked like a good choice when ordering tiramisu and desserts!

Can you get tiramisu to go in 2- or 4-piece sets?

Yes, Selected Nicks tiramisu can be packed as a 2-piece set or a 4-piece set. The packaging box is pretty, so it looked like a great gift for someone who loves tiramisu.

There were also so many kinds of financiers (small almond butter cakes). They all looked delicious and I wondered what each tasted like, haha.

What is the atmosphere on each floor of Selected Nicks?

This Gangnam Station café is made up of several spaces: the 1st floor, B1, 2nd floor, 3rd floor, 8th floor and the rooftop.

Since the place is so big, I was curious how the mood differs from floor to floor, so I looked around one by one.

Maybe because it was the weekend, every floor was full of people using the café. It seems like a big café that lots of people visit.

2nd floor: a white-toned, gallery-like space

You can move between floors by the outdoor stairs or the elevator. I tried the outdoor stairs on the way up to the 2nd floor.

The 2nd floor has a clean, white-toned interior with artworks hanging here and there, so it felt more like a small gallery than a café.

3rd floor: gatherings, studying and dates side by side

The 3rd floor was busy too. Some people were meeting friends, others were quietly studying, and some were on dates. Lots of people come to the café for different purposes.

Rooftop: the popular, wide-open space

I also took a quick look at the 8th floor and the rooftop. The Selected Nicks rooftop in particular is open on all sides and the atmosphere was great. On a nice day, it would be perfect for a cup of coffee while looking at the lovely sky.

When I visited, the rooftop seemed to be the most popular spot, packed with people and without a single free seat. You can spend a relaxed time chatting in the open air, so many people head to the rooftop on nice days.

We went up to the 3rd floor of Selected Nicks to have our coffee and tiramisu.

Vanilla bean latte with heart latte art

This is the vanilla bean latte (decaf) I ordered! It has a pretty heart on top. I've taken a latte art class, so I know how hard a heart is to pour, lol. Seeing such a nicely made heart made me extra happy, haha.

At the first sip, the soft milk had a subtle vanilla aroma and sweetness, and it was delicious. It wasn't overly sweet; the gentle vanilla made it easy to drink.

The iced Americano my husband chose

This is the iced Americano my husband ordered! With ice floating neatly in it, it looked refreshing from the first glance. It had a deep, rich coffee flavor and went down clean. The aroma is sooo good!!!

And the cup is so pretty too, hehe. "Selected Nicks" was written on the cup in English, in a simple yet stylish design, so while drinking I kept glancing at the cup.

How does the classic tiramisu at Selected Nicks taste?

The classic tiramisu at Selected Nicks was moist and soft, and the coffee had soaked in well, so it wasn't dry at all. This was the one I was looking forward to most!!!

I heard it's made with eggs and cheese, based on a traditional Italian recipe.

Maybe that's why it felt moister and softer overall than the tiramisu I've had at other cafés. The cake layer was also nicely soaked with coffee, not dry, and delicious.

It was sweet yet soft, perfect with coffee, haha. A little rosemary sat on top, and the touch of green made it look pretty too!! After one bite I immediately understood why this tiramisu is so popular.

Selected Nicks, the big café at Gangnam Station! The building itself is huge and split into many floors, so you can pick the kind of space you want. It's a nice atmosphere for spending relaxed time your way, whether that's a get-together, a date or studying.

On a nice day especially, the open rooftop looks like a great place to enjoy a coffee while looking at the lovely sky and the scenery around, haha. If you're looking for a large café at Gangnam Station, or one where you can stay and relax, I recommend Selected Nicks, the big Gangnam café!
