🌿 Why we picked Sansol Sinnonhyeon for a summer night dinner
On a late summer evening, after each of us had quietly gotten through our own day, we set out to share a proper meal together — just my husband and me.
I've always had a particular love for aged pork, where the juices and umami really soak into the meat, and I'd heard there was a place near Sinnonhyeon that lovingly brings out the meat's true flavor.
On a day when I was craving good food and warm conversation in the middle of the busy city, we made a reservation ahead of time and headed over, hearts a little excited.

🏞️ Sansol Sinnonhyeon exterior and atmosphere

A large, softly glowing mountain-shaped sign sits above the entrance, welcoming guests alongside a brushstroke sculpture spelling out Sansol (山松).
Even set within a modern building, the exterior carries a certain natural weight that stirs up curious anticipation before you even step inside.
It's an impressive, quietly elegant touch — like slipping into a different time and place right in the middle of the city.
📍 Getting there from Sinnonhyeon Station and where to park
Sansol Sinnonhyeon sits in an alley not too far on foot from Sinnonhyeon Station, so it's very accessible by public transit. If you drive, you can use the mechanical parking lot at the hotel directly across the street for 2 hours (₩3,000 for compact cars, ₩5,000 for large cars).
Given how tight parking can be in the Gangnam and Sinnonhyeon area, if you're driving, it's a good idea to check with the restaurant ahead of time or plan on a nearby public parking lot just in case.
🏢 Inside Sansol Sinnonhyeon: interior and seating

Stepping inside, natural materials like stone, wood, and straw come together in a tidy counter and aging chamber styled like a traditional tavern or hanok.
Cuts of meat undergoing dry-aging and wet-aging hang carefully along the wall, hinting at just how serious they are about this craft. The space is quite spacious and the tables are generously spread out, filled with the warm hum of countless happy conversations.
Because we'd booked ahead, we were seated right away without waiting, but by evening peak hours the front of the restaurant was already crowded with people waiting.
🍽️ How did the Sansol Modeum platter and doenjang stew taste?
That day at Sansol Sinnonhyeon we chose the signature 'san moeum' mixed platter, the 'countryside doenjang stew' to go alongside, and a warm bowl of steamed rice.

Even the basic table setting is thoughtfully done. Dressed greens, seasoned wild greens and pickles, a special soy sauce blend, wasabi, radish salad, and clean white kimchi (baek-kimchi) all arrive arranged in generous little portions.

The pork sizzling on the grill was thick-cut with a striking rosy hue. Grilled golden alongside zucchini, mushrooms, and corn, the meat unfolds into deep juiciness and flavor unique to aged meat the more you chew.

Dip it deeply in the special scallion-soy sauce with a little scallion on top, and you get a clean bite with double the depth of Sansol Sinnonhyeon's signature flavor. Wrapping fresh lettuce around rice, meat, wasabi, and ssamjang (thick seasoned soybean paste) makes for a wonderful bite too.

The countryside doenjang stew that came out midway through the meal had a rich, savory broth with big chunks of tofu — it cleared the palate right when things were starting to feel heavy, and paired beautifully with the steamed rice.

💡 Tips and best combos at Sansol Sinnonhyeon
Reserve ahead: waits get long during the after-work evening rush, so if you're planning a visit, I strongly recommend booking through Naver or a similar app beforehand.
Recommended order: for the first bite, dip the aged pork lightly in just salt or wasabi to enjoy its own natural umami, then try the second bite dipped in the special scallion-soy sauce for rich, savory depth. Be sure to finish the meal with the hearty doenjang stew and a bowl of rice.
📊 Verdict: is Sansol Sinnonhyeon worth it?
Sansol Sinnonhyeon, a Korean BBQ restaurant near Sinnonhyeon Station, is a place anyone who loves aged pork will find themselves quite taken with. The comfortable, stylish space, the high-quality aged meat, and the tidy side dishes that round it all out come together in real harmony.
It was a wonderful night to share small everyday moments and conversation with my husband. It's a place I'd love to come back to soon with close friends for another good time.
