Weekend brunch café in Sinnonhyeon: Geisha & chicken sandwich, Selecto

I'd like to recommend Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon Branch 24 Auto Brew Cafe, a bakery café right by Sinnonhyeon Station that you can visit 24 hours a day.

The café is at 31 Gangnam-daero 79-gil, Seocho-gu, Seoul, on the first floor. Monday to Friday it's staffed 08:00–22:00 and unmanned 22:00–08:00. Saturday and Sunday it's staffed 10:00–21:00 and unmanned 21:00–10:00.

Paid parking is available: ₩900 for the first 30 minutes, then ₩150 for every additional 5 minutes.

Come out of Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 1 and walk about 90 meters. It's really easy to find!

Is Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon spacious and good for studying with a laptop?

The café is bigger and more pleasant than I expected, which surprised me!

It was the weekend, so there were couples on dates and friends chatting away. The space is roomy and the seats are comfortable, so older customers visit a lot too.

The café is split into two feels: seats that are comfy for visiting with a group, and an area set up for studying or working on a laptop (what Koreans call "cagong").

There are even solo seats where you sit facing the wall! Every seat has an outlet.

Solo study seats at Selecto Coffee have a 2-hour limit

There are also solo study seats on one side of the café. As a 24-hour café in Gangnam and a late-night café near Sinnonhyeon Station, it seems like a good place to go when you have work to do at night. Note that the solo study seats are limited to 2 hours!

What's on the menu at Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon?

True to its "Auto Brew" name, Selecto is a great spot for coffee! The beans are Mocha Blend, Blue Mountain Blend, Hwasa (an Ethiopian blend), Geisha Blend, and decaf.

Beyond coffee, the drink menu is really varied.

• Basics: latte, vanilla latte, café mocha, caramel macchiato
• Grain latte, green tea latte, chocolate latte, black sesame oat latte, strawberry latte
• Royal milk tea, brown sugar bubble tea, royal milk bubble tea
• Signature drinks: Selecto Latte, nutty cream / chocolat cream / green tea cream latte
• Short coffees: long black, double-shot short latte
• 3 kinds of cleanse juice, ades, blended drinks, and teas

The drinks are varied, and there are lots of desserts and bakery items to go with them too.

For something that can stand in for a meal, there are three sandwiches: chicken, smoked salmon, and sweet pumpkin and egg.

The sandwich bread looks like ciabatta, so my bread-lover radar says this place is probably great for sandwiches ^^

There are plenty of little snacks too, nice for a light bite~

Geisha Blend vs Mocha Blend: how do they taste?

At Selecto Coffee Sinnonhyeon, I picked two iced Americanos, Geisha Blend and Mocha Blend, plus a chicken sandwich for brunch.

This is the Mocha Blend. It had a bittersweet dark chocolate aroma that would go well with a sweet dessert. I think people who dislike acidity would like this bean best.

And this is the Geisha Blend. I've been into acidic beans lately, so I really loved it. The notes are floral, plum and blackberry, and the blackberry fragrance came through strongly, which I adored. I thought this place was only famous as a 24-hour café in Gangnam, but the coffee is the real deal!!!

Is the chicken sandwich filling enough for a weekend brunch?

The Selecto chicken sandwich I ordered alongside had soft bread, fresh vegetables, tomato and mild chicken breast, so it made a perfectly good weekend brunch.
