Entrance area of Hodu Kkakki Brothers on the first floor of a villa building

Hodu Kkakki Brothers is a 3-minute walk from Yangjae Station Exit 4, so it's very easy to reach by public transport! It's also a handy spot to hop off at Yangjae Station, grab this gift dessert, and transfer to a bus again haha. It's on the first floor, inside the parking lot of a villa building called 'Banseok Vill'! The sign doesn't stand out much, so I almost walked right past it.

Pie showcase inside Hodu Kkakki Brothers

Still, there's a cute showcase just inside, so I could tell right away that this is a dessert takeout spot in Yangjae Station haha. Parking looked possible with a quick stop in front of the villa! There's no hall inside anyway, so buying takes only 5–10 minutes haha.

The MIX1 Nuts box I chose as a gift for my mother

Since it was a gift for my mother, who loves nuts, we bought the MIX1 set at Hodu Kkakki Brothers, the Nuts set! From choosing to paying took under 3 minutes, I think haha. They also packed it nicely in a box, and there was no extra packaging fee!

Why Hodu Kkakki Brothers pies are called a healthy dessert

Healthy Hodu Kkakki Brothers pies with no refined sugar

They say the pies are a healthy dessert because they leave out the usual unwelcome ingredients like refined sugar, antibiotics and artificial sweeteners! A sugar-free dessert, when sugar goes into so much these days haha. And since nuts themselves are good for you, there's no need to say more about a dessert made from these ingredients, right?! haha

Storage instructions for Hodu Kkakki Brothers pies

How to store walnut pie

They say that after buying, you should put the pie in a zipper bag and refrigerate it for about 7 days and eat it cold for the richest flavor and moistest texture! Personally though, it was really delicious eaten the same day I bought it haha. For reference, freezer storage lasts up to 30 days, and you just thaw it naturally for about 10 minutes before eating!

Storage guide and introduction booklet inside the gift box

Inside the box there's a storage guide and a catalog-like introduction booklet, and it's put together so the person receiving the gift feels treated well, so I think it's truly great as a gift dessert.

How did the Hodu Kkakki Brothers nut pies taste?

Thanks to the Hodu Kkakki Brothers box packaging, everything arrived pretty and without any shaking on the way haha. My mother was so happy and said it was delicious, which made me really proud haha. As soon as I opened the box, the lovely colors and all those nuts made my heart feel full before I'd even eaten anything.

Nuts set pie piled high with nuts

Personally, the condition of the nuts was really good. The pecans on the pecan pie were completely intact, not broken, and the pie crust wasn't dry but crisp, so I could enjoy it to the very end.

On top of that, the pie itself is very dense and fudgy, so filling that even one slice works as a meal. I thought that with a warm coffee or milk it would be pure heaven~ haha.

Macadamia pie piled high with macadamias

There were so many nuts piled on top that macadamias tumbled off haha. The nuts had no stale, off smell at all and were fresh through and through, so every kind was delicious, with no hits and misses haha.
