What is Yangeunine Samseong Station Branch?

Yangeunine Samseong Station Branch is a Korean restaurant in Samseong-dong focused on pollack stew and bossam (boiled pork wraps). It is open daily from 11:00 to 22:00, with a break from 15:00 to 16:00 on Saturdays and Sundays. The restaurant's selling points are house-made kimchi and sauces, plus good-value, home-style cooking served heaped in yangeun (aluminum pots).

I've been going to Gangnam like it's breathing lately... This time I had business near Samseong Station on a weekend, and came to Yangeunine Samseong Station Branch for lunch. It serves proper, classic Korean food: pollack stew, bossam, squid bossam, naengmyeon (cold noodles) and more!

Yangeunine Samseong Station Branch is beside COEX, between Seolleung Station and Samseong Station. By subway, it's a 10-minute walk from Samseong Station Exit 5, or 6 minutes from Samseongjungang Station Exit 5!

There's no break time on weekdays, but on weekends there's a one-hour break from 3 to 4 PM, so check before you go~ I visited around 1 PM on a weekend.

The inside has a retro, full-of-character Korean restaurant vibe,, with tables for 4 up to group seating, and there were diners eating solo too. With several lunch specials in the low ₩10,000s, it seems like an easy, no-pressure place for lunch!

Unlimited rice at lunch

At Yangeunine Samseong Station Branch, rice is unlimited during lunch, 11:00 to 15:00. Making customers full << this must be Yangeunine's motto. A hearty meal, love it.

The signature order is the Yangeunine Set! Spicy pollack stew + squid bossam + naengmyeon for just ₩45,000,, I bet 3 to 4 people would be stuffed.

But there were only two of us, so we checked other options. The lunch specials include spicy pollack stew, bossam set meal, cold or spicy naengmyeon with a small bossam, cockle bibim somyeon (spicy mixed thin noodles), cockle bibimbap and more, all a great-value ₩12,000,,

I hadn't properly eaten in 3 days, so I was thinking of keeping it simple with a lunch set each,, but I got greedy and ordered the medium squid bossam. It comes with blanched squid, bossam, rolled kimchi and wrap vegetables.

For the review event, they gave us chewy pyeonyuk (sliced boiled pork), which is a seriously generous, not-stingy service haha wow. You order through the tablet on each table.

What's at the self-serve bar?

At the self-bar of Yangeunine Samseong Station Branch, you can help yourself to siraegi (dried radish greens) soybean paste soup and extra side dishes. The staff were really kind, and told me to use the self-bar if I wanted the soup or more sides, so I went.

The self-bar is clean and fully stocked. The soup isn't set out at first, so if you want it, just scoop it yourself!

How was the medium squid bossam?

The medium squid bossam at Yangeunine Samseong Station Branch comes as blanched squid + bossam + rolled kimchi + wrap vegetables.

These are the standard side dishes~ bean sprouts, seasoned radish, kimchi, fish cake and so on,

And this is how the medium squid bossam arrives. Wow, I was surprised at how generous it was. I didn't expect much from the squid, but it looked so fresh and tender at first glance that I was gulping haha.

Lean bossam and squid that's easy on weak teeth

I wrapped the bossam in lettuce and napa cabbage. It had little fat and lots of lean meat, yet wasn't dry at all, just tender and soft. The squid was soft and tasty enough that even people with weak teeth could chew it comfortably.

Honestly it was my first time trying the squid and bossam combo, and I loved it. If I hadn't had plans afterward, I could have had daytime drinks with it, it was that good as a meal. When eating bossam, kimchi matters as much as the pork,, and the kimchi had great savory depth and was so delicious, it felt like my first proper meal in a while.

Finishing with siraegi soybean paste soup from the self-serve bar

I don't usually eat soup much, but after a bit of bossam the siraegi soybean paste soup seemed like it would be good, so I brought some,, of course it was good. The seasoning was just right, and it's a Korean combo no Korean could dislike. That's Yangeunine!

Would I go back to Yangeunine Samseong Station Branch?

I like pollack stew too, so next time I plan to come back for the Yangeunine Set that has everything. With good taste and good value, it works for gatherings, company dinners and eating out, and if you're looking for a filling meal or a great lunch near Samseong Station, I recommend Yangeunine Samseong Station Branch~
