Where is Today Makeup near Hongdae Station?

Since so much time and preparation goes into a wedding, it really matters to get hair and makeup that suits you best, then wear the dress that suits you best too. So getting hair and makeup done before a dress tour seems really necessary.

Today Makeup is on the 2nd floor of a building 6 minutes on foot from Exit 1 of Hongdae Station.

You can park on the 1st floor of the building — just leave the Today Makeup visitor sign inside your car.

Follow the stairs up to the 2nd floor and you'll find the entrance to Today Makeup.

Waiting area and a restroom for cleansing at Today Makeup

Once you step inside, there's a waiting area.

There's a bathroom inside the salon that was kept very clean.

Foam cleanser and cleansing oil were in the bathroom, so I could remove my makeup there.

Fitting room for changing into dresses and suits

You obviously need a space to change into a dress or suit, and Today Makeup has a fitting room tucked into a corner of the waiting area, so changing wasn't inconvenient at all.

Inside the fitting room there's a sofa, chairs, hangers and a rack, so you can relax comfortably,

and there's even a full-length mirror — everything a fitting room needs was there.

Private makeup rooms and the cosmetics on hand

There are four makeup rooms in total. In the outer waiting area, there are two spots where hair can be styled.

When we visited, there were two other guests, but since makeup is done separately in each room, there's no awkwardness from sharing a space with strangers — that's really nice.

The makeup rooms have their lighting set up and hold a huge amount of cosmetics.

Each room seems to have a different artist in charge, so the products differ slightly room to room. Even so, the variety was so wide that they could find exactly the right shades for the makeup I wanted.

Today Makeup prices for hair, makeup and classes

This is the Today Makeup price list. Basic women's hair and makeup starts at ₩120,000, and men's hair and makeup starts at ₩70,000.

All the artists at Today Makeup were genuinely skilled. There's also a chance to learn makeup yourself, so taking a class might be worth trying.

Today Makeup is also running a receipt review event that gives a ₩5,000 discount — definitely worth joining.

Getting hair and makeup done before a dress tour

When visiting Today Makeup, you should only lightly apply skin toner and lotion to your face, and just shampoo your hair beforehand — no treatment, since apparently that makes the hair harder to set. My partner also came with a bare face. They prep the skin texture well with patches before starting the makeup.

They quickly combined the style I wanted with what suited me, and I really loved the result.

How the wedding-day low bun was finished with no baby hairs

Once makeup is done, they move on to styling the hair. First they curl the hair to start.

They style it exactly the way you want — I chose a low bun again this time. But until now, my wedding hair and makeup was always done for studio shoots or dress pre-fittings, so they left some baby hairs framing the face. This time, thinking ahead to the actual wedding day, I wanted to see how the low bun looks without any baby hairs at all.

The director's skills are so good that when you show a reference photo, she recreates it almost exactly,

and once again she gave me a low bun that suited me perfectly.

The hair and makeup really came together perfectly.

Dress tour makeup that came with a lip for touch-ups

There's a huge variety of lip colors,

and they thoughtfully sent me off with a lip color and cotton swabs for touch-ups — truly the finishing touch for a perfect visit to Today Makeup.

I did the dress tour after getting wedding hair and makeup done, and I really think it was the right call. It's how I was able to find the dress that suited me best.
