Jeju Eunhuine Haejangguk Suwon Ingye Branch (제주은희네해장국 수원인계점) is a gukbap (rice soup) restaurant near Exit 8 of City Hall Station in Suwon, Gyeonggi, specialising in beef haejangguk (hangover soup) and naejangtang (offal soup). On a rainy, humid day, the writer and her husband came for an early lunch and ordered one haejangguk and one offal soup, and the writer, who avoids pork while taking herbal medicine, ate without worry because both soups are made with beef. With glass noodles in the haejangguk, a bean-sprout-packed offal soup and free extra rice, Jeju Eunhuine Haejangguk made for a satisfying meal.

Dongtan kimchi jjim restaurant with parking out front: Yangpuni

Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae & Samgyeopsal is a kimchi stew and kimchi jjim (braised kimchi) pork restaurant near Central Park in Bansong-dong, Dongtan, Hwaseong. On a sweltering summer lunch, the writer parked right in front of Yangpuni and ordered the 28,000-won pork belly kimchi jjim set with an added ramen noodle portion. The egg roll included in the set was large and tightly packed. Generous kimchi jjim portions and big chunks of pork made it a meal that left the writer stuffed.
