The bread girl is back. I'm picky about bread — I usually love the fillings more than the bread itself — but there's one thing that taught me to appreciate the bread on its own: salt bread!!!!!

When salt bread first showed up I used to think, isn't this just buttery white bread? What's the difference from a croissant? Or couldn't you just brush butter on a dinner roll and bake it? That salt bread made me regret those thoughts..
Zoblack's location, hours, and parking
Zoblack is a salt bread bakery at 9 Marine City 1-ro, Unit 110, Haeundae-gu, Busan. Hours are daily 10:00–20:00.

On this round of Busan bakery-hopping I came to Haeundae and got a recommendation for the best salt bread in the area, which led me to Zoblack in Marine City. There's a park nearby too, so it's good for getting some to go and taking a walk~ㅡ~
Zoblack is on the first floor. The building already looks like a bakery worth visiting. I love this kind of wood-tone, floor-to-ceiling glass building. The exterior matches the name Zoblack somehow — almost gives off a tailor shop vibe? They said the bread comes out starting at 10.

There's underground parking reserved for the building, and apparently 1 hour is free. I didn't drive though, so parking wasn't a concern for me.

They also have desserts and drinks like coffee, tea, and lattes that pair nicely, and the prices aren't too high. It's mainly a pickup bakery, but there are a few tables where you can sit and rest for a bit. Don't forget to check their Naver review event. And just one salt bread is huge, by the way.

How many kinds of salt bread does Zoblack have?
And here's what got me excited — the salt breads at this Marine City bakery, Zoblack.

There are so many kinds of salt bread. From ppuring salt bread to almond salt bread, basil tomato salt bread, sweet garlic salt bread, mentaiko salt bread, and more — the variety is huge. There's even a Dubai salt bread, visually wild.. Plus hotteok (sweet pancake) salt bread that's great in winter, churros salt bread — I didn't know salt bread could come in this many forms.

They even have red bean butter salt bread, my mom's favorite. Beyond the sweet ones, truffle salt bread caught my eye as something more meal-like. Chive cream cheese salt bread too... there are so many kinds that choosing itself becomes a happy struggle.

Breads that are lovable just to look at. It's a shame the photos can't fully capture how cute they are... visually overwhelming. There were so many curious salt bread types that I agonized over choosing. The basic salt bread is ₩2,800, so it didn't even feel expensive. Besides salt bread, they also have Basque cheesecake and tigre.

There's even lemon madeleine, which my mom loves.
I believe no basic bread can beat a salty, savory, buttery salt bread. So whenever I go bakery-hopping, salt bread is what I always buy without fail. I tried baking salt bread myself once, but no matter how good the butter was, it never tasted like the store-bought kind..

Six salt bread flavors to go, and the fillings were generous
These are the flavors of Zoblack salt bread I picked: truffle, churros, mentaiko, red bean butter, basil tomato, chive cream cheese.

I'd heard reviews saying the cream filling was really generous for the price, and overall the fillings did feel very substantial. Here's what I personally look for when judging salt bread:
- Is the bottom crisp and buttery?
- Does it have a salt bread 'cave'? If not, is the bread itself still buttery?
- Does it avoid feeling like plain dinner roll bread?
- Is the price reasonable, not overdone?
- Are the fillings good?

Honestly.... this Marine City bakery, Zoblack, is so satisfying.. it tastes like something I'd want to befriend the owner over

When you get generous fillings for ₩3,000–4,000, you can't help but fall in love ㅠㅠ The basic salt bread itself is buttery, and the moment you press the bottom, butter just bursts out... it's the kind of taste that's perfect for buying a bunch and stuffing them with ice cream. If you prefer buttery and salty, I strongly, strongly recommend this Haeundae salt bread spot, Zoblack!

Basil tomato salt bread
I bought Zoblack's basil tomato salt bread since it's a recommended menu item, and the basil aroma was strong like it had been actually cooked with, and there wasn't just one piece of tomato but quite a lot. For someone who usually likes basil ciabatta and loves pizza, this was a completely satisfying menu item.

Truffle salt bread
Truffle salt bread — this one isn't overwhelmingly strong on truffle flavor, so it's easy to enjoy the subtlety, but the moment you bite into the cream inside, the truffle aroma and taste really come through. More importantly, the salt bread itself is just so delicious. Zoblack's truffle salt bread has a noticeably better bottom than the other flavors, so it's my personal number one.

Mentaiko salt bread
Zoblack's mentaiko (seasoned pollock roe) salt bread nails the buttery texture too, and the mentaiko inside has its own strong presence — a nice contrast after eating the sweeter salt breads in between. It's not just salty mentaiko, it has a flavor like dipping into mentaiko sauce, more like a proper dish. If you love salt bread, I strongly recommend this Marine City salt bread spot in Haeundae, Busan — definitely worth adding to your Busan bakery-hopping course this summer.
