People & Peoples is a pizza-and-beer bar on the outdoor drinking street three minutes from Sangdong Station in Bucheon, Gyeonggi. The ham cheese pizza with a pastry crust is 24,000 won and a 500cc draft beer is 5,500 won, and the handmade salsa criolla sauce served alongside cuts the richness so well that five slices went down easily. With blankets and double-sided air conditioning on the patio, People & Peoples is a solid pick for outdoor pizza and beer on a cool evening.

Guro bar with window seats: fire-grilled hagfish, Apgujeong Sinpocha

Apgujeong Sinpocha is a pocha (Korean bar) specialising in fire-grilled dishes, on the 2nd floor of a building one minute from Gaebong Station in Guro, Seoul. On moving day the writer and his girlfriend took a full-window seat and ordered Jeju sweet shrimp sashimi (25,000 won) and fire-grilled hagfish stir-fry (19,000 won, Shin Ramyun spice level); the stir-fry came in a deep, rich sauce and the shrimp had no fishy taste at all. For a second round of drinks near Gaebong Station, Apgujeong Sinpocha is an easy recommendation.
