Dana

Today I visited Dana, my go-to Dongseong-ro spot in Daegu whenever I want steak and Western food 💗 It has a special risotto you can only get here, plus a flap steak I love for its flavor, value and portion size! This is my Nth revisit, and I always leave happy, so here's my satisfied review :)
Where is Dana Dongseong-ro Main Branch, and what about hours and parking?
Dana Dongseong-ro Main Branch is at 12-24 Dongseong-ro 2-gil, Jung-gu, Daegu, on the 2nd floor, and it's open 11:30-22:00. Groups, a waiting area, reservations and corkage are all available.

Dana is a 5-minute walk from Banwoldang Station, Exits 12 and 13, close to the Banwoldang phone-shop alley and the Rodeo Street area. It's also near The Hyundai Daegu and Dongseong-ro Sparkland, so it's easy to drop by after running errands nearby 🙌🏻 ✔️For parking, you can use nearby underground car parks or public car parks.

There's a menu board in front of the shop, so you can check it before going in ❣️

What's the atmosphere like at Dana Dongseong-ro Main Branch, and is it good for a date?
Dana Dongseong-ro Main Branch has a split-level layout with the 2nd and 3rd floors joined by stairs and full glass windows, which makes it an especially good Banwoldang Western restaurant for dates. Being on the 2nd floor, the two floors are connected by a staircase, and the split-level structure felt cozy and warm, like an attic! The 2nd and 3rd floors are glass-walled, so the lush green window view was lovely too 🌿💚 The pretty setting makes it a great Western restaurant near Banwoldang for a date.

The tables seat four, so they're roomy and well spaced, which made eating comfortable :) Since it's a popular Western restaurant in Dongseong-ro, there can be a wait on weekends or at peak times, so I recommend booking ahead if you're planning a visit.
Dana Dongseong-ro Main Branch menu and prices

Here's the menu at Dana Dongseong-ro Main Branch! There's a wide choice, from rice dishes like risotto and pilaf to steak, gambas (garlic shrimp), gnocchi, pizza and pasta. Everything looked so good that I couldn't decide,,, 🥹 There are also set menus that let you enjoy several dishes at a good price, so they're worth a look.
This time I ordered these three dishes.
- Baked risotto ₩15,000
- Beef flap steak ₩27,000
- Cream cheese green salad ₩8,000
How does the cream cheese green salad taste?

Dana's cream cheese green salad (₩8,000) tops the greens with pineapple, cherry tomatoes, sliced almonds, olives and cream cheese, and you can choose balsamic or yogurt dressing. The crisp, fresh greens come piled with toppings 💗 We picked balsamic.

The greens were soft with no bitterness, and the cream cheese was nutty without any sourness, so eaten with the cherry tomatoes it tasted fresh and sweet like a caprese salad! The balsamic dressing wasn't too strong either, which whetted the appetite nicely.

How many dishes should two people order?
Two of us ordered one flap steak, one baked risotto and a cream cheese green salad as a side, and the portions were generous enough that we ate our fill. The steak and risotto came out quickly too! Doesn't it look so appetizing? 😍 Every dish is made to order, so the food is fresher and arrives warm.
Is Dana's flap steak good value at under ₩30,000?
The beef flap steak, one of Dana's signature dishes, is ₩27,000, and it's good value because the portion of meat is big. These days many restaurants charge over ₩30,000 for steak and serve tiny portions, which is often disappointing..! At Dana, a Dongseong-ro steak favorite, the amount of meat itself was so generous, I loved it 💓

The garnishes are salad, potato mayo salad and sautéed mushrooms, so you can mix and match, and four sauces come with it: salt, whole-grain mustard, wasabi and barbecue. ✔️For the side dish you can choose one of three: honey truffle French fries, yogurt-sauce green salad or balsamic green salad, and we went with the balsamic salad.

Sous vide, fixed at medium: how are the doneness and texture?
Dana's flap steak is cooked first by sous vide and is served at a fixed medium doneness. The price is friendly but the taste is high-end! You might think a value steak means lower quality, but Dana's steak is really tender with rich beefy flavor… It's cooked just right, so I think anyone would enjoy it.

Flap steak has a tendon running through the middle, but it wasn't tough and actually added a nice chew. It's vacuum-cooked at low temperature first, then pan-seared in butter, so it gets that buttery aroma and stays moist and full of juices… The steak is so good that just a pinch of salt and a little wasabi on top goes perfectly 🥰

What does the baked risotto, found only at Dana, taste like?
Dana's baked risotto (₩15,000) is a spicy cream risotto wrapped in a tortilla and baked in the oven, crispy outside and moist inside. Ordinary risotto comes in a shallow bowl with a porridge-like, creamy, soupy texture, but true to its name this one is oven-baked, so it's crispy outside and moist inside ❣️
You just cut it into pieces with a knife like this! It's like a burrito, or like a chimichanga~ You can only get it at Dana, so it's one of the dishes I always order whenever I come here.

The risotto is simmered in a spicy cream sauce, topped with cheese, wrapped in a tortilla and baked in the oven, so the outside is crispy and dry while the inside is really creamy! It isn't overly strong, just spicy and nutty, the kind of flavor you keep reaching for.

There's shrimp and bacon inside too, so you get a savory, springy bite! The tortilla outside is baked crisp and nutty, and the risotto is spicy and thick, so the two go really well together~~ And if you dip it deep into the sriracha-mayo-like sauce on top, it's wildly addictive…
Verdict: is Dana Dongseong-ro Main Branch worth revisiting?

If you want atmosphere, value and flavor all in one, I really recommend Dana in Dongseong-ro, Daegu 🥹 I've lost count of how many times I've been, and I always leave full and happy, so it's where I end up whenever I crave Western food in Dongseong-ro haha. Please do try the baked risotto you can only get at Dana and the great-value flap steak 🍀
