The weather's been so lovely lately that I ended up walking along Euljiro and Cheonggyecheon, and suddenly craved some good aged sashimi—so I headed to our favorite bar in Jongno, Seoul +_+ This is one of our go-to spots we've been back to a few times already, but this visit was 200% satisfying all over again, so I'm recommending it to anyone looking for a sashimi place or a round-two bar near Jongak Station!

It's on Jongak's Youth Street, a quick 5-7 minute walk from Exit 4 of Jongak Station (Line 1), and about 15 minutes from Euljiro 3-ga Station—easy to reach right after work or for a weekend gathering. It's especially convenient if you're already on a date in Euljiro or around Cheonggyecheon and want to naturally walk over. With light, tidy dishes centered on aged sashimi and seafood, there's really no better spot for a round-two bar near Jongak Station haha.

Modern, tidy interior of Suksseong Susan

The interior is modern yet tidy, with a varied seating layout—if you sit by the window, you get a full view of the hip, lively Jongak streetscape, perfect for drinking while soaking in that unique Seoul vibe. Each indoor table is also curtained off, giving a nice private feel. You barely hear noise from neighboring tables, so it's a great atmosphere for quiet, honest conversation!

Suksseong Susan is a spacious place with around 120 seats total, so it works well for a couple's date, a blind date spot, or drinks with coworkers after work. Being on the 3rd floor also gives it a pleasant sense of separation from the noisy street below, which I liked.

Aged sashimi on a third visit: amberjack was the top pick

Plate of low-temperature aged sashimi

Since this is our favorite bar near Jongak Station, this was already our third visit haha! Every time we come, the aging on the fish is spot-on perfect... The chewy texture combined with the fish's own flavor spreads through your mouth with every bite—it's truly excellent. Being able to taste the deep flavor of fish aged over 24 hours at low temperature made for another satisfying evening.

From sweet shrimp, red seabream, olive flounder, monkfish liver, and butterfish to bluefin tuna—every piece of the aged sashimi was incredibly fresh with no fishy smell at all, but the amberjack was our top pick this time. It had real chewiness and nuttiness—the kind of moving flavor you only understand once you've tried it ✨

What does the red crab innard cream croquette taste like?

Freshly fried crab innard cream croquette

The crab innard cream croquette we ordered was the textbook definition of crispy-outside-soft-inside—freshly fried, and biting into the crisp coating released a soft, savory crab innard cream bursting out +_+

The mayo was mixed with a subtle spicy kick from sriracha sauce, cutting through any greasiness perfectly! The combination of savory cream and spicy sauce was so good that it kept our hands reaching back for it—a true standout drinking snack.

Seasonal cuttlefish mulhoe, filled to the bottom of the bowl

Cuttlefish mulhoe loaded with in-season cuttlefish

Isn't mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) an absolute must-have side dish in summer?! This time we ordered the cuttlefish mulhoe, loaded with in-season cuttlefish—there was cuttlefish all the way to the bottom of the bowl, so satisfyingly generous that it kept turning up no matter how much we ate.

The cuttlefish's chewy yet sweet umami blended amazingly well with the tangy, refreshing broth of the mulhoe. It felt like the kind of quality you'd want with a shot of soju on round two *_* It also paired perfectly with the croquette, and I remember happily finishing off the very last drop of broth!

Once you go, you'll end up coming back like we did haha.
