In short
Samajama Sasang (사마자마 사상본점) is a cozy izakaya on Sasang-ro 202beon-gil in Sasang, Busan. On a second visit, after chicken for the first round, the writer stopped at Samajama Sasang for a second round and ordered Samajamanabe, a spicy tomato stew with 5 handmade skewers, udon noodles and baguette. Why I came back to Samajama for round two in Sasang
Samajama Sasang is an izakaya (Japanese-style pub) in Sasang, Busan, and this was my second visit. The first time I went because I was craving skewers, and I liked the mood and the food so much that this time I came back as a round-two spot, curious about other dishes.
These days when I pick a bar, I look for somewhere with a good atmosphere and tasty snacks, not just drinks. Especially when I'm meeting someone I haven't seen in a while, or want to spend time somewhere nice, I look at the food and the space together.

Is Samajama Sasang good for a date?
With its soft lighting and cozy feel, Samajama Sasang is a good bar for quiet conversation. The inside is actually quite spacious, the tables are nicely spaced, and it seemed like a good fit for a get-together with friends or a date.
When you look for a round-two bar in Sasang, it's often hard to decide where to go, but Samajama was a good find thanks to its atmosphere. If you're in the early "something's going on between us" stage, or still a little awkward with each other, the mood makes it easy to talk naturally, and it felt like the kind of place where a couple could happen. The first thing I felt when I walked in was coziness, and the space was so comfortable that it was lovely to chat over a drink.

I ordered drinks before the snacks, haha. The weather is so hot lately, it's that season when you get thirsty and beer comes to mind, right? It's not just me, is it? ^^

What happened when I ordered Samajamanabe on a full stomach
I'd had chicken for round one and was already full, but the Samajamanabe I ordered at Samajama Sasang was so good I kept reaching for more. Since it was round two, I had originally planned to just drink lightly without eating much.
But while looking at the menu I got curious about Samajamanabe and ordered it, and I really felt it was the right call. Even full, I couldn't stop eating it?????

What is Samajamanabe?
Samajamanabe (nabe means hot pot or stew) is Samajama's signature stew, combining 5 handmade skewers, assorted vegetables, udon noodles, baguette and a spicy special tomato sauce. Even the name felt special, and after trying it I understood why it's a popular dish.
It looked great the moment it arrived. The rich tomato-based sauce and the variety of ingredients made it look really appetizing. Maybe because I usually like tomato spaghetti, the flavor was right up my alley. The special tomato sauce wasn't too heavy, and the spicy kick made it a great match for drinks. It wasn't just plain tomato flavor, it had a savory depth that kept me eating.
The 5 handmade skewers were generous too. They were made up of popular skewer options, so it was fun to eat them one by one, and the combination of skewers, vegetables and udon noodles worked better than I expected.

Do the udon noodles and baguette go with the sauce?
The udon noodles in Samajamanabe tasted even better once they soaked up the tomato sauce, and the baguette served alongside was really good dipped in it too. I thought I was too full to eat much, but once I started, it just kept going down. I ate so happily that I wondered whether I was really the person who'd had chicken for round one, hahaha
I think anyone who likes tomato sauce will be satisfied with this dish. I already love things like tomato spaghetti, and Samajamanabe felt like a reinterpretation of it as a bar snack, which made it extra special. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for something a little different from the usual bar food.

How were the skewers and the staff at Samajama?
Samajama is known for its skewers too, and the ones I had on my first visit were each so good that they stayed in my memory. From the basic snacks to the main dishes, you can feel that care went into the whole menu.
The staff were friendly as well, so I enjoyed my whole visit. They explained things well when I ordered and took care of what I needed right away, which made it easy.

A good bar in Sasang: my overall take on revisiting Samajama
If you're looking for a bar with a good atmosphere in Sasang, I'd recommend Samajama. It's a comfortable place for a drink with tasty snacks, and the mood seems good for a date too.
Even on a second visit I was very satisfied, and I'd like to try other dishes next time. Samajamanabe especially is the kind of charming dish you keep eating even when you're full, so I hope you'll give it a try.

If you're looking for a bar in Sasang with tasty snacks and a good atmosphere, give Samajama a visit. It was a lovely place to spend good time over good food in a relaxed setting ^_^
