Fish restaurant by Sorae Mountain, Incheon: late-evening mackerel date
In short
Sorae-san Hwadeok Saengseon Gui is a Korean restaurant serving clay-oven grilled fish in Manuigol, Namdong-gu, Incheon, near Sorae Mountain. On a late-evening date, the writer and her boyfriend ordered a mackerel set for 2, which came with 4 kinds of kimchi, individual stone pot rice and cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew). They also used the self-serve corner, where Hangang ramyeon costs 3,000 won, and finished with plum tea. Rich, oily clay-oven mackerel and well-made kimchi make Sorae-san Hwadeok Saengseon Gui worth a stop if you are visiting Sorae Mountain.

What is Sorae-san Hwadeok Saengseon Gui like late in the evening?
Sorae-san Hwadeok Saengseon Gui is a clay-oven grilled fish restaurant in Manuigol, Incheon, near Sorae Mountain. It's been a really long time since I brought you a restaurant review~~~~ I wanted grilled fish so badly today that we came to this Incheon grilled fish spot, haha!
It's right by Sorae Mountain, so I bet it's packed with customers at lunchtime. We visited late in the evening, when things were nice and relaxed.

Where do you park?
There was room for about 6 cars in front of the building, haha. Parked with no fuss!

Inside, the place was spacious and comfortable! That big clay oven over there must be where the fish gets grilled~~

Menu and ordering
The menu had lots of grilled fish: mackerel, flatfish, Atka mackerel, baekdae (searobin), Spanish mackerel, hairtail and a mixed plate!! I'd been craving mackerel since before we came, so I ordered the mackerel set for 2 (●'◡'●)

What's in the self-serve corner?
The self-serve corner had a really wide choice of side dishes: acorn jelly, soft tofu, all kinds of kimchi and wrap vegetables! Ta-da, a self-serve corner! And there's even a Hangang ramyeon machine, lol. You can try Hangang ramyeon (instant noodles cooked in a machine) for just ₩3,000, haha!

Basic side dishes: 4 kinds of kimchi
A set of 4 kinds of kimchi came out first as the basic side dishes, lol. And I think they make the kimchi themselves... the taste was seriously amazing, haha. I thought I could eat a meal with just the kimchi... so good!

How was the clay-oven mackerel?
Ta-da~~ And finally!! The main event, the clay-oven grilled mackerel, arrived~ (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ Aaah... that nutty, savory smell is insane, lol. Can you see the oil dripping off the mackerel? Haha. Oh my gosh, it looks so delicious...

The mackerel set also comes with stone pot rice and cheonggukjang (strong fermented soybean stew) served individually, which made it even better!! Wow, a truly perfect Korean table, haha.

My boyfriend diligently picked the bones out of the mackerel for me, lol. Thanks to him I got to eat so comfortably. Yum yum. The mackerel flesh is sooo soft it just melts in your mouth.... And with just the right amount of oil and a rich savory flavor, it's a total rice thief, haha.
Wow... I regret not coming for grilled fish sooner. Crispy and tender all at once, best mackerel ever... 👍👍👍👍

Cheonggukjang and stone pot nurungji
The cheonggukjang broth was really rich and deep. I polished off a bowl of stone pot rice and then went straight on to the nurungji (scorched rice), and it really settled my stomach.. haha. It felt like my first proper Korean meal in ages, hehe!

Plum tea for dessert and overall verdict
On the way out there's a coffee machine, omija tea and plum tea, so I finished with plum tea! 💕
A kind owner, a clean and spacious restaurant, and a Korean table full of reliably good home cooking!! If you're ever heading to Sorae Mountain, definitely eat at Sorae-san Hwadeok Saengseon Gui!! Total recommendation~~ 👏👏👏
