After eating late for the first time in a while, I naturally started craving Korean food. I guess I can't escape being Korean 🇰🇷 Rather than anything harsh and spicy, I just wanted a nicely laid-out Korean meal, and while hunting for lunch I found Masisso Budae Jjigae Misa Station Direct Store (마시쏘부대찌개 미사역직영점).
The taste and the price were both so satisfying that I could see myself coming back often. If you're looking for a good place near Misa Station, somewhere comfortable to eat alone, or a filling lunch, I'd recommend it, so let me go through it in detail.

Where to eat army stew alone near Misa Station
Masisso specializes in single-serving army stew, so you can eat budae jjigae (army stew) by yourself near Misa Station. Normally you have to order for at least two people, which makes it hard to eat alone, but here a one-person pot is the default. There are so many restaurants around Misa Station, and even so this is a great setup for eating solo! Of course two people can come too, like me 🙆

There are counter seats, so you don't feel awkward or self-conscious coming alone. When I went, most people were eating solo. The atmosphere is quiet and clean, so it's easy to relax. If you're looking for a lunch spot or a place to eat alone near Misa Station, I think you'll be really happy here.

You can keep your belongings under the chair, and there are hangers for your coat. Meaning the table never feels cramped 🫢 Honestly, the best conditions for eating alone!
Masisso menu and prices: can you refill the rice?

Masisso Misa Station has 4 kinds of army stew, and when you eat in, rice is included and refillable! That's a real perk. Considering how expensive eating out is these days, a service like this is very welcome. The taste is good and the portions generous, so the value was satisfying too. I could see why office workers around Misa Station come here so much at lunchtime. For takeout, rice costs extra.

Order separately at the kiosk, choose regular or spicy
You order at a kiosk. Since every seat gets its own pot, even a group has to order individually. There are two flavors, regular and spicy. The two of us ordered like this:
- Masisso Budae Jjigae ₩10,000 + half a ramen (included) + 2 fried eggs ₩2,000
- Masisso Budae Jjigae ₩10,000 + a whole ramen ₩500 + ham and sausages ₩2,000
How does Masisso taste? Kelp broth with garlicky depth
This is how Masisso arrives, in a single-serving pot! It also comes with a three-side set of kimchi, pickled radish and seasoned seaweed flakes, and with army stew those three make the bowl disappear in no time.
When you think of army stew, you usually picture a rich, heavy broth, right? Masisso says it uses a broth made from Wando kelp, which is probably why the soup tasted clean and refreshing. Personally I also tasted a lot of both minced and ground garlic, which added savory depth and I liked it. I'm a garlic person 🧄

Add ham and sausages; baked beans are not included by default
The pot on the left is the one with extra ham and sausages! The most important thing in army stew is the ham, of course. Personally I don't like the white beans (?) that some army stews have, and Masisso doesn't include them, which I loved. You can add extras when you order.
The indispensable ramen noodles are included too, half a portion by default. If you want a whole ramen, just add ₩500! With ramen included as standard, it's a place I can happily recommend among Hanam's army stew restaurants.

I added fried eggs too, and they come soft-yolk! Egg + army stew + rice is the best meal.

Is Masisso good for lunch or eating alone near Misa Station?
When I visited, many people were eating alone, and there were also tables of two like us. The food comes out fast, so it works for lunchtime, and the atmosphere isn't awkward at all for solo diners, so thumbs up for eating alone! I especially recommend it as a lunch option near Misa Station (゚∀゚)
If you want a good-value meal with ramen and rice for ₩10,000, I recommend it even more!
