What is Geurine Oasis, a café near Gwangneung Arboretum, like?

Geurine Oasis is a Gomori café less than 10 minutes from Gwangneung Arboretum, so it's a nice place to stop after a day out at the arboretum. This day I ate in Songu-ri and then stopped by Geurine Oasis in Gomori. I think I last came about a year ago, so it had been a while, and a few things had changed, like a new annex! Originally there was only the building you see above, but now that one is the annex and a new main building has been added next to it.

Geurine Oasis is famous for its huge yard. The view of Gomori Reservoir is so pretty on a nice day like these days. The big yard and pretty view are this Pocheon café's strengths, and they've used that space to build a brand-new dog zone!

A dog run has newly opened next to Geurine Oasis! There weren't many dog-friendly cafés in Gomori, but now you can just come to Geurine.

There's a layout map inside the café, so I took a photo of it! Geurine Oasis is divided into the indoor main building and annex, outdoor tables in front of the reservoir, and the dog run.

Geurine Oasis rules for dogs

Only dogs under 50cm tall and under 24kg are allowed, and with your dog you can only use the annex, the outdoor area and the dog run. The rules posted in the café are below.

Inside the main building and how to order at Geurine Oasis

You can only order in the main building. This photo is the main building interior! The air conditioning was blasting so it was nice and cool, but the tables are close together, so it felt a little crowded, I guess?

How much is the menu at Geurine Oasis?

The iced Americano at Geurine Oasis is ₩7,000, and the other drinks are all around ₩7,000-8,000. Pricey for an iced Americano, honestly. The bakery and cake selection isn't as huge as the big bakery cafés in Gomori, but there's still a decent range! The drinks list was also really varied.

What I ordered: iced Americano, decaf and salt bread

I ordered one iced Americano, one iced decaf Americano, a ginger honey ade I think, plus a salt bread and some kind of croissant! Good decaf is hard to find, but the decaf at Geurine Oasis is good!! It has no acidity, which is how I like it, so I loved it. The bread was pretty decent too.

A reusable cup you can take home

The interesting thing is that Geurine Oasis serves drinks in a reusable cup. It works both for dining in and takeout, and you can take the cup home after drinking! I thought it was just a plastic cup, but they say it's made of the material used for baby bottles and can handle hot water up to 120°C. It felt too good to throw away, so I took mine home too! Haha. I've been using it all the time lately to make coffee at home and drink it in the car!

Isn't the outdoor seating at Geurine Oasis hot in summer?

The outdoor seats in front of the reservoir have an awning and a breeze comes off the water, so it wasn't nearly as hot as I expected! And this was a day when the sun was really blazing. It's still a little hot, but with a cold drink and the breeze it's refreshing enough, so this Gomori café is fine to visit in summer too.

While we were sitting there eating, a man selling chestnuts came around, haha. Two bags for ₩10,000 seemed a bit pricey, but they looked tasty so I bought them. Doesn't it feel like some tourist spot, haha. Sitting at a lakeside café on the weekend eating bread, drinking coffee and munching chestnuts was so healing!

If you're out near Gwangneung Arboretum in Pocheon, stop by Geurine Oasis! I also recommend it as a dog-friendly café in Gomori :)
