Friday-night whole chicken timed to the roast at Jangjakgun, Seongnam
Jangjakgun Main Branch is an oak firewood roast chicken restaurant a 5-minute walk from Exit 3 of Dandaeogeori Station in Seongnam, Gyeonggi. On a Friday evening outdoor table, the writer ordered the hanbang nurungji tongdak (herbal crispy-rice roast chicken) with a grilled boneless chicken feet set and a rice ball, scraped up the crispy rice at the bottom of the stone plate, and liked it enough to take two more birds home. The roast chicken comes out at a fixed time each day, so it's best to call ahead.
